A Metropolitan battle between tri-state rivals rages on Monday night when the red-hot New Jersey Devils square off with the New York Rangers. Read on for our Devils-Rangers picks and predictions.

Quite possibly the hottest team in the league, the New Jersey Devils had a 13-game winning streak snapped by the Toronto Maple Leafs last week, but followed that up with consecutive wins over the Buffalo Sabres and Washington Capitals.

The New York Rangers, for their part, have dropped two games in a row, and are 4-4-2 over their past 10 games. In their last outing against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night, New York blew a 3-0 lead, surrendering four third-period goals en route to a 4-3 loss.

Here are our Devils-Rangers NHL picks for Monday (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Devils vs. Rangers Odds

Devils vs. Rangers Odds Analysis

With 71% of cash coming in to support the Devils, they can be snatched up at -110 at multiple sportsbooks. The Rangers, too, can be grabbed at -110 at essentially every sportsbook.

The total is set at 6, with both the Over and Under paying out at (-110). With totals being relatively low for both teams recently, six feels like an appropriate number.

Devils vs. Rangers Picks

  • Over/Under: Under 6 (-110 FanDuel)
  • Prop: Chris Kreider Over 2.5 (-155 DraftKings)

Devils vs. Rangers Moneyline Pick

Devils (-110) ★★★★

Perched atop the NHL standings, the New Jersey Devils are off to a blistering 18-4 start. Based on the raw numbers, this ridiculous record is well earned as New Jersey sits in the top-five in goals per game, goals surrendered per game, Corsi For percentage, expected goals for, expected goals against, and expected goals for percentage.

The Rangers are actually a better 5-on-5 team than they were in 2021-22, but Igor Shesterkin’s impression of a brick wall just isn’t as convincing this season. It’s not as though the Rangers’ netminder is playing poorly, but the bar has been set so high and the regression isn’t exactly surprising.

All things being relatively equal, you have to go with the better team, and this is some good moneyline value for New Jersey.

Devils vs. Rangers O/U Pick

Under 6 (-110) ★★★★

This is a bit of a tough pick. The Devils are one of highest scoring teams in the league, but totals from both team’s recent games suggest a potential low-scoring affair. The Devils have combined with their opponents for six or fewer goals in three straight games, and six of their past seven.

The Rangers are a middle-of-the-pack team in regards to goal scoring, and they’ve combined with their opponents to score six or fewer goals in five of their past seven games.

With solid goaltending on both ends of the ice in Shesterkin and Vitek Vanecek, we are not expecting a red-light party.

Devils vs. Rangers Prop Pick

Kreider Over 2.5 shots  (-155) ★★★★

This is the perfect bet to attach to a parlay. Kreider isn't on the goal scoring tear that saw him net 50 last season, but he is putting the puck on goal with relative frequency. With 74 shots in 22 games, Kreider is averaging 3.4 shots per game and he’s topped three-plus shots in three of his past five outings.

He’s actually launched three-plus shots in 64% of his games this season, and has more five-shot games than he has one-shot games. This bet holds tremendous value, especially if you attach it to a parlay.
