We asked our consultant for his NHL picks & predictions for Tuesday’s game between Anaheim and Dallas. Read this compelling preview that'll make you crash the books.

Anaheim vs. Dallas
The Stars and Ducks collide on Tuesday in a Western Conference matchup. The opening faceoff at the American Airlines Center in Dallas is slated for 8:35 PM ET. Current (11:15 AM ET) NHL betting odds indicate that Dallas is a -150 moneyline favorite at BetOnline. This will be the first meeting of the season between these clubs. Anaheim won two of three from Dallas a season ago, and all of those games went under the total.

Daffy Ducks
I predicted in my "5 Teams to Bet Under Their Season Point Totals" article that it would take time for Anaheim to gel. However, I’m not going to make the absurd claim that their start would be this slow. It has been mind boggling that their team can be so anemic offensively considering they possess forwards of the likes of Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, and Ryan Kessler. Well, that’s certainly been the case thus far. Heading into today, Anaheim is 1-7 and has been held scoreless in five games. They’ve been shutout in each of their previous two games, and, remarkably, it’s the second time already this season in which that’s occurred. Tuesday will be Anaheim’s third game in four days, fourth in the previous six days, and all of those contests will have been played on the road. That’s not good news considering they're facing an opponent (Dallas) tonight who will be playing just their second game in the last five days, and both of those will have come on home ice.

Stars Look to Begin Another Win Streak
The Dallas Stars had their five game win streak come to an end during a 6-2 home loss to Florida this past Saturday. The Stars have been an offensively potent team thus far, and that should remain a constant throughout this 2015-2016 NHL campaign. Dallas is currently 6-2, and averaging a robust 3.4 goals scored per game. Antti Niemi is expected to get the start in goal tonight, and he’s compiled a stellar .928 save percentage during four starts and one relief appearance.

Final Thoughts
It makes absolutely no sense to even consider using Anaheim as one of my NHL picks on Tuesday. Dallas is clearly the better team at this juncture, more rested, and holds a huge offensive edge.

One bright spot for Anaheim during this pathetic start has been the play of Frederik Andersen in goal. Anderson has an outstanding .940 save percentage during five starts and one relief appearance. Unfortunately, he came up on the short end of a 1-0 overtime loss at Chicago last night, and in all likelihood will be given the night off on Tuesday. That means we will see Anton Khudobin in goal, and he’s compiled a terrible .875 save percentage in three starts.
