This is a good ole' revenge spot for the Dallas Stars as they try to avenge a 8-2 loss to the Jets back in November. Dana Lane explains why tonight will be a much different outcome than their recent meeting in his NHL pick.

We are certainly on the best roll of the season, sitting a season high 11 games over .500.  We did have to do some clean up to do on our record, I added a loss, instead of a big win to my record, after the Sharks knocked off the Blackhawks on Tuesday.  My fault on that but everything is cleaned up now.

Tonight, the Winnipeg Jets (24-25-4) travel to Big D to take on the Dallas Stars (21-20-10), in a match-up where both teams are in desperate need to get a victory. The Stars are just three points out of the final playoff spot and four points out of the first wild card spot. It's conceivable that they could climb up into one of the at-large spots in the Central with a winning streak.

It seems to be the same broken record when talking about the Stars, they can't seem to find that same groove the propelled them into the playoffs last season.  Once again, we may have reason to believe that Dallas may be primed for a long winning streak, after all, they've won back to back games with a very winnable game in front of them tonight. This will be an opportunity for the Stars to create some separation from Winnipeg as they also own two games in hand on the Jets. With a win the Stars will have won three straight games for the first time this season.

If any tie-breakers come into place, it's the Jets who have the better division record with wins in two of three meetings with Dallas this season. Adding to that is the fact that Winnipeg dealt the Stars their worst loss of the season, 8-2, back in November.  It's reasonable to think that Lindy Ruff's team is in a perfect position, at home, to control their destiny, at least against the Jets.  A loss would put the Stars in a difficult position to catch that last wild card spot with games dwindling.

Winnipeg will be playing their third game of a four game road trip, a trip they are 2-0 on, but let's keep in mind that there could be a fatigue factor.

In net for the Jets is Ondrej Pavelec who gets the start after a 24 save performance against the Blues on Tuesday.  The Stars will finally meet a team that is as unsure about their goaltending as they are but after Kari Lehtonen shut down the Maple Leafs with a 40 save effort Tuesday, I feel better about backing him than Pavelec who has to prove himself on the NHL level all over again.
