The NHL went feast or famine for scheduling the last week and after only three contests yesterday, we now have robust selection from the NHL odds to look over.

Tomorrow we are down to just one offering, everybody is in action on Saturday, followed by just two tilts on Sunday. There are very important matchups all over the place in tonight's action, however, the theme of this article is to come up with what this hockey handicapper considers are the three best NHL picks, not the three best games to watch and possibly wager on.

Thus, we will stick to the same format against the NHL odds boards and hope to nail down a trio of winners.

Philadelphia Flushes Toronto
The Flyers (39-40 SU) got manhandled last night 3-0 in Detroit and return home still in pretty good shape to make the playoffs. Philadelphia has played one less game then the Red Wings and Boston, giving them edge if they win and seeing those two clubs are facing off tonight, a victory over Toronto (28-52 SU) is vital the Flyers.

The Maple Leafs have been playing like they already have their bags packed, losers of four in a row and six of seven and multiple defensive breakdowns has them permitting 3.4 goals a contest in this period.

After being strong on defense, Philly has been vulnerable in past two outings, allowing nine goals and returning home, they will try and tighten this up while securing a seat at the Stanley Cup table.

The Flyers are -230 home favorites and are 9-2 on home ice after a road loss and a perfect 5-0 if it was by two or more goals.

San Jose Has to Win at Home to Build Momentum
The door is barely open, but it is not completely closed for San Jose (45-35 SU) to finish second in the Pacific Division. The Sharks have to win final two games and whoever loses tonight's Anaheim and Los Angeles confrontation has to tumble twice in regulation time.

San Jose cannot concern themselves with what they cannot control and instead has to do quick damage control at a place that until this season has not been a problem since they became a perennial playoff contender.

The SAP Center was known as the Shark Tank long before the TV show, as San Jose devoured opposing teams in this building. The Sharks got off to an uncharacteristic 3-5 start at home and really have never recovered, owning a 17-22 SU record. Thankfully for them they have been outstanding on the road to offset this poor mark, but they realize you have to be able to blend winning home and away in the postseason and needs to spank both Winnipeg (33-47 SU) and Arizona to conclude regular season.

The Jets would seem to present a challenge in winning last two tilts, but they are +200 underdogs and are 0-10 after winning two straight.

Nashville Seeks Feel Good Triumph
While several other NHL teams are still jostling for position, Nashville (40-40 SU) is not one them. The Predators are locked in as the top wild card in the West and could really use a complete game victory by multiple goals over Arizona (35-45 SU).

Nashville was threatening to reach the Top 3 teams in the Central, but a four-game losing streak in which they picked up one point took care of that. A 4-3 win over Colorado helped turned the tide and another tonight could build a positive vibe for the Predators.

The Coyotes are among the worst road teams in the league at 13-26 SU and they have been blistered 18-5 in dropping four straight away from the desert. Nashville is an inflated -230 favorite, but coming off a 4-0 drubbing in Arizona in January, the Preds are 10-1 playing with revenge after being shutout.
