The rest of the teams in the NHL resume action from their winter break today. The sportsbooks have hung out their NHL odds on these teams to see what kind of action they can attract.

Yesterday, had a nice winning day and could have swept the board except for OT loss (what else is new) with Nashville. Today, one of our NHL picks will be on teams who switch venues in back to back games, along with another squad who might finally be playing to their skill level. These two plus one more contest, giving us three plays for Sunday.

The listed NHL odds are from YouWager.

Dallas Turns Tables on St. Louis
Thought Dallas (26-10 SU) might be in a tough spot at St. Louis (22-15 SU) yesterday, and that turned out to be true with the Stars losing 3-2 in shootouts. But I had already made plans to back Dallas if they lost because of next day turnaround and coming back home against a team which has beaten them twice in the last 15 days.

The Blues are getting back on track and have won five of six thanks to recent contributions like those from 20-year old Robby Fabbri, who scored the tying goal last night late in the third period, his third in three games.

Dallas has opened as -145 home favorites and will hope home ice will get Tyler Seguin and linemate Jamie Benn going since Dallas is 14-4 at American Airlines Center, winning six of its last seven while averaging 3.86 goals.

It would seem getting off to a fast start would really benefit the Stars who are 11-2 against winning teams this season.

Chicago Closes Out Carolina at Home
The Blackhawks are back in action for the first time since Tuesday and will host Carolina (14-21 SU), a 3-1 winner at home over New Jersey on Saturday. Of late, it's been like taking a trip down memory lane for 'old school' hockey for Chicago (20-16 SU), with five of their past seven contests having ended with shutouts, twice in which were on the short end of the scoreboard.

The Hawks are 14-5 SU at the United Center, where their energy level has been better all season and the same goes for goalie Corey Crawford. The Chicago netminder is 12-4-1 with a 1.65 goals-against average and all five of his shutouts have come at home. Crawford is presumed to make his eighth consecutive home start and in his last seven he's posted a .968 save percentage and three shutouts. Against Carolina, he's been on his game with four wins a in a row and a 1.72 GAA.

This hockey handicapper realizes the Hurricanes have won three of four on the road and using the Blackhawks at -215 on the money line could be a touch risky, but with Crawford in net and Chicago 13-1 at home off a road loss by two goals or more the last three seasons, seems like a rather sure bet.

Pittsburgh Starting to Find Way
With back to back wins for the first time since Nov.17-19, Pittsburgh (17-17 SU) should be beginning to feel more optimistic. Scoring five goals versus Columbus was a start, the most in nine tries and playing arguably their best game of the month last night, the Penguins beat a Minnesota on the road 3-1 yesterday.

The catalyst has been Sidney Crosby, who has five points over his past three games, after enduring a season-long slump. Pittsburgh is no longer a feared team, with Crosby and Evgeni Malkin playing below superstar standards and not having the same quality of players around them, but that does not mean they still are not dangerous and quite capable of putting together a long winning streak or extended exceptional play.

The Pens are +110 underdogs at Winnipeg (15-19 SU), as the Jets have dropped five of seven. Pittsburgh has won six straight over Winnipeg and 21 of 24 dating back to their Atlanta Thrashers days and seem like a good value as underdog when adding all these factors together.
