A rather full card on Saturday in hockey with the sportsbooks able to supply a number of choices for NHL odds. However, it is not quite as easy as it looks for NHL picks.

Exactly half of the 10 games opened at -185 or higher and couple of those immediately shot to -200. If you as a hockey handicapper have been following it as closely as I have, there has been an unusually high amount of -200 or higher money line losers in the first quarter of the season. If you are an underdog player for NHL picks, there have been some outstanding money-makers, but it is not always easy to identify these games, unless you are predisposed to seek only dogs.

Coming off yet another winning day against the NHL odds, where are today's choices.

Rangers Rebound Against Florida
New York (14-5 SU) ended up one game short in its pursuit of trying franchise record of 10 consecutive victories and it came in the cruelest way, making a blunder on the power play which led to shorthanded goal for Tampa Bay in 2-1 loss.

That was also the Rangers first loss in regulation in 14 contests and they will look to start another streak tonight. Even with the defeat, New York remains the best defensive team in the league in permitting 1.74 goals a game and they are fourth in scoring at 3.0 GAG. It makes sense the Rangers would also have the best goaltender and they do in Henrik Lundqvist, whose 1.71 GAA is the best in the league. For his career, Lundqvist holds a 1.81 career GAA against the Panthers (8-11 SU) and he's won five in a row against them.

Florida goalie Roberto Luongo has been sharp in his last two outings, with 77 saves and just two goals allowed. However, facing the Blueshirts has been a different matter and in past three losses to them, his GAA is bloated 5.16. Heritagesports.eu has New York at -135 and I will grab it with the Panthers 3-14 at home versus teams outscoring their opponents by 0.5 or more goals a game the last three seasons.

NHL Pick: Rangers -130 at 5Dimes

Dallas Too Talented for Buffalo
Maybe this will come back to bite me, but I'm willing to put my money almost every time on the best team in the Western Conference in Dallas (16-4 SU). The Stars are very chalky -230 favorites and I have mentioned that these teams have been quite costly this season and the only other time Dallas was -200 or higher they lost. In fact, all four of the Stars losses have come against losing teams just like Buffalo (8-11 SU).

Nevertheless, Dallas is still the top scoring team in the NHL at 3.55 GAG and has huge edge tonight if Buffalo has to send player to penalty box. The Stars have the second-best power play at a conversion rate of 28.3 percent and the Sabres are the second-worst penalty-killers at 72.9 percent.

Taking that information into consideration with Dallas 13-3 versus teams averaging four or less assists per game this season, time to lay the lumber.

NHL Pick: Stars -200 at BetOnline

Chicago Wins over Laboring Vancouver
Last night I went against the Blackhawks and picked up a win, but will throw my support towards them this evening. Chicago (11-9 SU) at least picked up a point in OT loss at Calgary, but still fell to 3-6 SU on the road. Corey Crawford will be back between the pipes for the Blackhawks and Vancouver (7-13 SU) is only 1-7 against good starting goalies with 91.5% or better save percentage this season.

The Canucks are in the midst of a horrible part of their schedule, having to play 11 of 13 on the road and tonight and tomorrow are only contests at Rogers Arena, before heading out for four more away outings. Vancouver has only one W in past eight games and its defense has been atrocious in conceding 3.5 GAG. With the Canucks 3-10 after playing four consecutive road games since last season, Chicago at -120 is too good to pass on.

NHL Pick: Blackhawks -105 at Pinnacle
