Time for a little Hump Day hockey and menu from the sportsbooks has just four choices with NHL odds, which means for NHL picks have to use the process of elimination for today.

This will be no easy task with highest opening NHL odds at -140, it is expected we will have four competitive games tonight to follow as hockey handicappers. Let's get to my choices for tonight with the odds coming from Wagerweb

Winnipeg Picks up Road Win
It is the third game of the road trip for Winnipeg (7-5) and they are 1-1 after being throttled at Montreal three days ago 5-1. Normal starting goaltender Ondrej Pavelec sat that game out, but he is presumed to be back between the pipes. Pavelec is 3-3-1, with a goals against average of 2.51 and save percentage of .919, which rank him 23rd and 20th respectively among goaltenders who have made at least four starts. However, the most important aspect of Pavelec playing is he has won past four starts against Toronto.

The Maple Leafs (2-9 SU) ended their six-game losing streak with a decisive 4-1 victory on home ice against Dallas Monday . James Reimer made his fourth start of the season in net and is 2-1-1 with a 2.98 goals against average as a starter and is expected to make second consecutive start in place of banged up Jonathan Bernier. For Toronto to overcome +120 money line odds, they will need more production from power plays which is 26th in the league at 12.5 percent ( 4 for 32).

Though a home underdog is inviting for NHL picks, the Leafs are 5-20 having lost four of their last five the last two seasons.

NHL Pick: Jets -130 at 5Dimes

St. Louis Struggles in Windy City Continue
The Blues(8-4 SU) have been playing better hockey than the defending Stanley Cup champions in the early going, three points ahead of them in the standings. St. Louis offense and defense has better than Chicago's in spite of a plethora of injures. However, the United Center has not been kind to the Blues in this Central Division rivalry, losers of six straight and coming in with a major outage in one aspect of their play.

In the Blues 3-0 home loss to Los Angeles, the power play continued to be a conundrum with four scoreless opportunities, leaving them at 0-21 over the past six games. That unit ranks 29th in the league at 9.5 percent (4-42). They will not find any easier against the Blackhawks (7-5 SU), who have killed off 16 of 17 opposing power plays at home.

Since losing season opener to New York Rangers, Chicago has reeled off six consecutive home wins, outscoring the opposition 17-6 and goalie Corey Crawford being masterful in net. With the Hawks confidence over St. Louis on home ice and posting stellar 15-2 record after two or more Over's, Chicago at -140 is doable.

NHL Pick: Blackhawks -130 at Heritage

Underdog Penguins March to Victory
Pittsburgh's contest with Vancouver really sets up to be a close one with the Penguins at +105 road underdogs. With new players attempting to mesh with extremely talented veteran players, Pittsburgh started slowly, especially on offense, but have found a groove in winning four in a row and seven of eight. With the Pens offense starting to gel, the continued fine play of netminder Marc-Andre Fleury has helped them reach 7-5 record, being first in fewest goals allowed (1.71) and second in save percentage (.942) for any goalie with at least seven starts.

Vancouver (6-6 SU) has begun to improve their play after four-game losing streak by winning three of four, including the past two over Arizona and Philadelphia. Nonetheless, the Canucks do not handle success well and are 7-18 after winning two consecutive times.

NHL Pick: Penguins +102 at Pinnacle
