It is a big day in college football and as it turns out it is also a big day in the NHL, with the sportbooks sending out betting odds on 11 games to satisfy any hockey bettors addiction.

Coming off yet another winning day, for the NHL picks I am going to change it up a little bit today and share with you something I frequently do as a hockey handicapper, play two-team parlays on big favorites to go along with two other selections I have for today.

Road Happy Ottawa Finds Happiness in Carolina
Ottawa is only 7-6 SU on the season, but sure have liked being on the road this season. The Senators are 5-1 away and Kyle Turris has a lot to do with it. The Ottawa center is among the leaders in scoring thus far with eight goals but for some reason he like his teammates have been very comfortable wearing the visiting sweaters and scored six times on the road.

Ottawa has won its last two games and four of five and the key is buckling down on defense, having allowed two goals a game in those victories, compared to 3.0 goals a game allowed on the season.

The Senators won in Carolina (5-7 SU) in March 2-1 and they have not won consecutive games there in eight seasons, which is why they are 2-11 in most recent visits. Nevertheless, Ottawa is playing well and is 11-4 on the road having won four of five and they seen the NHL odds at Heritagesports.eu flipped from +105 to -115 and I will use them for sports picks.

Two-Teamer in Day-Night Action
The Los Angeles Kings (-190) and Washington Capitals (-260) are the biggest favorites on the board. You could bet them individually and likely pick up two winners. But you also would incur a great deal of risk. To win $200.00, you would have to risk $450.00. While both look like sure winners, we know that is not the case and a loss on either guarantees losing money.

Instead, I suggest to reduce the risk and say wager $100 on a two-team parlay which cuts your risk dramatically. While I know and understand many bettors are not going to be excited about winning around 12 bucks on something like this, the idea is to win a build bankroll, not worry about how you win, much like the stock market.

I like the Kings (8-5) in afternoon action having won eight of their last 10, while Florida (5-8 SU) is really slumping on a four-game losing streak. Also, the Panthers have not fared well in La-La Land, having dropped 10 of last 13 and they are 7-24 versus teams who allow 2.55 or fewer goals a game.

The night game is a complete mismatch in terms of skill and talent and the money line backs this up. We understand Washington can score and they are conceding just 14 goals in their victories this season. Contrast that with Toronto (2-11 SU) who has scored two or fewer times in eight of their 11 setbacks.

Montreal Continues Dominance of Boston
The goal for Boston the last several years has been to win the Eastern Conference and take their chances in the Stanley Cup Finals. They have made it there twice and taken The Cup home once since 2010. Over the last several decades, they have had other teams worthy of making that destination, but have come up short, too often being knocked out by Montreal.

At this point it is like mental road block for the Bruins (6-6 SU), who come unglued when facing the Canadiens and they have lost 12 of last 16 meetings. Montreal (12-3 SU) is first in scoring in the NHL and third-best in goals allowed. Boston can score with the Canadiens being second in lighting the lamp, but is 28th in stopping the opposition from scoring.

It is a given the B's will take a couple foolish penalties because they always become rattled by Montreal and how are they going to stop the Canadiens since they have the league's worst penalty kill unit? The Habs at -145 sure looks like easy money.
