Time to investigate the latest NHL odds from the sportsbooks as we continue to plow ahead with NHL picks to generate profits.

In looking at this these NHL odds, this hockey handicapper is going to change it up a bit and add a fourth game write-up because I really like what I see today.

Ottawa Handles Philadelphia Again
Back on Nov. 21st, Ottawa goaltender Craig Anderson turned aside 36 shots in the Senators 4-0 shutout. Ottawa (12-11 SU) has won four of five and is back home after three-game away excursion, losing at Arizona 4-3 on Saturday. However, the Senators No. 5 offense has really been potent of late, scoring 25 times in last six contests.

Philadelphia (9-15 SU) has the poorest offense in the NHL at 1.83 goals a game, but they have perked up a little of late, having tallied 10 scores in four outings. Even with this slight improvement, the Flyers at +130 on the money line are impossible to consider because are dreary 0-15 in road games revenging a loss where opponent scored four or more goals the last two seasons.

NHL Pick: Ottawa -149 at 5Dimes

Detroit Finally Ends OT Madness
Detroit (12-12) is in third place in the Atlantic Division by virtue of earning points in seven straight games. This ends up being a little misleading because the Red Wings are leaving points on the table in posting 4-0-3 record. They are just 3-3 in last six OT games and in the past four, which they have split, they had leads in the third period which they did not hold.

Detroit opened as -185 favorites but slid to -165 with Buffalo (10-14 SU) having won two in a row by 4-1 scores. However, for NHL picks, I'm not buying it because he Red Wings just own the Sabres at home with 14-1 record since 1996 and win again.

NHL Pick: Detroit -158 at BetOnline

Nashville in Solid Scheduling Spot
Arizona (13-10 SU) just completed a 3-0 homestand and will be on the road for their next five contests. The Coyotes are a respectable 7-6 SU away from the desert and thanks to improved goaltending and timely scoring, they have won seven of 10.

Arizona has lost three in a row and four of five at Nashville and it appears they might be catching the Predators at the right time since they have lost five of six. But four of those losses came on the road for Nashville (12-11) and the one to Buffalo at home Saturday came with no rest after a five-game road trip.

Now rested, the Predators are -170 favorites and when digging into the numbers, we find the Preds a super 11-1 on home ice playing with two days' rest. In addition, while quirky, hard to ignore Nashville is 16-3 at home on Tuesday nights since last season.

NHL Pick: Nashville -170 at Bookmaker

Los Angeles Keeps Motoring Along
The last time Vancouver (9-16 SU) was in L.A. they polished off the Kings 3-0 in mid-October, giving Los Angeles their worst start at 0-3 in 30 years and all were at the Staples Center. The Kings (14-9 SU) have since solved those early woes and have been victorious in 14 of the next 20, including a 8-2 SU mark at home.

That win against Los Angeles nearly seven weeks ago left the Canucks at 3-0-1, but everything has down downhill since. Vancouver has only six wins in past 21 games and it been combination of defensive breakdowns in allowing over three goals contest and not enough consistent offense.

Vancouver will arrive in L.A. with some confidence having won three in a row over the Kings. Nonetheless, Los Angeles has been very steady and goalie Jonathan Quick is 7-2-0 with a 1.87 goals against average over his last nine home conflicts since losing to Vancouver and will be tough to penetrate.

NHL Pick: Los Angeles -190 at Pinnacle
