This week has been a rollercoaster ride and nothing exemplified it like yesterday's betting odds. Tonight we have where to choose from for our top NHL picks. Don't miss them!

On Saturday, there were three upsets in the NHL and I had the misfortune of being on the short end of each one, highlighted, or in this case low-lighted by Los Angeles giving up four straight goals after taking 3-1 lead over Ottawa in the third period. As is the case in sports betting, when making NHL picks, sometimes you're the windshield and sometimes you're the bug.

For the last time, new policy has the selections listing top play first, with choices in order 1-thru-3.

Detroit Seeks to Extend Fine Play at Home
The Red Wings (23-21 SU) longest road trip of the season has been an unqualified success with a 5-1 record, which has propelled them into second place in the Atlantic Division behind Florida. Detroit is back home after three days off where they have lost two in a row and four of five and faces a Philadelphia (19-23 SU) crew who has been improving.

The Flyers had their four-game winning streak snapped versus the New York Rangers yesterday in OT by 3-2 score. That was the fewest amount of goals Philadelphia had scored after tallying 15 during the streak and will look to pile up more. The Flyers will have to solve Detroit goaltender Petr Mrazek, who has won five in a row and has a 1.39 goals-against average and is someone they have never faced.

The early NHL odds has the Red Wings as -155 home favorites and they are 9-2 after four consecutive away games. The clincher is Philly is 10-28 on the road playing their third game in five days.

Chicago Over Slumping Montreal
Chicago (30-17 SU) will try to match a franchise record with their 11th consecutive victory Sunday night in a quick rematch against Montreal (23-22 SU). The Blackhawks have knocked off 10 straight opponents, outscoring them 38- 19 and part of those positive numbers came with Thursday's 4-1 stomping at Montreal.

The Canadiens thought they might have turned a corner by winning the Winter Classic on New Year's Day 5-1 against Boston, but have lost four of five since. It was first thought the absence of goalie Carey Price is what was wrong with Montreal, but the lack of a consistent offensive attack and far too many breakdowns has the Canadiens as one of the worst teams in the league since Dec. 3rd at 4-15 SU.

Oddsmakers have Chicago as -200 money line home favorites and Corey Crawford is expected between the pipes for the Hawks and he has a 1.32 goals-against average in six career six against the Habs, who are a hard to comprehend 5 for 60 in power play chances in last 19 games. The Blackhawks are 6-0-2 recently versus Montreal.

Tampa Bay Cools Off Florida
Florida (26-18 SU) used a franchise record 12-game winning streak to storm into first place in the Atlantic Division, but could be staring at the third consecutive setback with Tampa Bay (23-21 SU) finally playing up to talent level.

The Panthers conclude the six-game road trip, which started out 3-0, but has lost steam with losses to Vancouver and Calgary. The Lightning on the other hand have reeled off four straight wins and five of six and moved into a fourth place tie in the Atlantic, seven points behind Florida.

The Tampa Bay offense we were expecting is starting to show, with 16 goals in past four contests and they are -145 faves and they are taken four of five at Amalie Arena against the Panthers. Off the Lightning's 5-4 triumph over Pittsburgh, they are 23-7 after a home game where both teams scored three or more goals the last three seasons.
