Saturday’s round of NHL betting features a whole slew of games to spot on your NHL picks. We cast our eye on a few of the choice bets available and serve up our betting tips and picks.

Detroit vs. Toronto
The Detroit Red Wings are coming off a pivotal win over the Minnesota Wild at Joe Louis Arena, improving to 6-4-0 in their last ten games . Importantly, they close the gap on Philadelphia Flyers in the Eastern Conference race for a wildcard spot. In Saturday’s round of NHL betting action, marking their second game in as many nights, the Red Wings hope to take the momentum to the Air Canada Centre and clinch the pivotal win, as points are at a premium with the season-winding down.

Toronto Maple Leafs are long eliminated from the postseason frame, so forgettable it’s been behind a woeful 28-38-11 mark. Yet, recent form is a positive 6-4-0 in their last ten, suggesting that while they may have little to play for they aren’t bowing down or going out quietly. There’s an appeal to the role of party-pooper, so to speak. The Red Wings can’t take anything for granted, nor can bettors despite Detroit’s favorable NHL odds on the sports betting floor that are trading anywhere from -138 (Heritage) to -145 (5Dimes). Nevertheless, given what’s at stake for the Red Wings, one has to like their chances. They’ve beaten the Maple Leafs twice in three meetings and look good value to improve to 3-1 SU.

Buffalo vs. NY Rangers
The New York Rangers enter their clash with the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday as the overwhelming home favorites on the NHL odds board. They are trading anywhere from -215 to -230 NHL odds for the outright win, despite a recent dip in form that has them standing on a rather subpar 4-3-3 mark in their last ten games. Most recently, they are riding a two-game losing streak behind losses to the Penguins and Hurricanes.

Based on current form this market outlook does seem rather overly optimistic, but, then again, the Sabres hardly strike a convincing pose. Eliminated from the playoffs, they are looking at a long summer ahead. Recent form is a so-so 5-3-2 in their last ten games. While they are coming off a 4-1 win it was over the hapless Toronto Maple Leafs which isn’t exactly an endorsement of their chances. They lost their last two road trips to Detroit and Pittsburgh and are 1-4 SU in their last five away games. We can’t see past a home win here on our NHL picks with the best current price available at BetOnline.

San Jose vs. Nashville
Nashville Predators look to stop the bleed when they welcome the San Jose Sharks on Saturday Night. Three straight losses has the Predators slipping to a 5-5-0 mark in their last ten games, two of which were on the road to Dallas and Pittsburgh. San Jose Sharks are also 5-5-0 in their last ten games and coming off a loss to the Vancouver Canucks at home. In fact, they are just 2-4 SU in their last six games with losses to the Blues, Oilers and Stars as well. Both are through to the playoffs: Predators behind a 39-26-13 season and 91 points and Sharks behind a 43-29-6 mark and 92 points. Therein lies the clincher, the pair are neck-and-neck in the standings, separated by just a point.

With the business of qualifying for the postseason done there is still the matter of standings and seeding to play for. So in no uncertain terms this is a must win game. Nashville are solid at home and the deserved favorites at -123 or thereabouts, but the Sharks are a better road team than they are a home team and they can’t be overlooked as the nominal +105 to +115 road underdogs. Still, the Predators have the 2-0 edge over the Sharks this season having beaten them twice by a combined score of 8-3. The Predators should win but the Sharks could win. For our money, we’re going with the hosts.
