The refrigerator is stuffed with leftovers from yesterday, but the sportsbooks NHL odds are fresh for hockey today after a day off for the holiday, which we hoped you enjoyed.

For those making NHL picks, we have a dozen games to choose from and we narrowed the field down to three. Hopefully we can keep the winning going and help you build that bankroll for your hockey bets.

Washington Cools off Tampa Bay
The Eastern Conference champs have gotten off to stumbling start, but picked it up in recent games by winning three in a row and four of six. Tampa Bay (11-12 SU) continues to be sharp defensively and has given up only three goals in last four games and one or fewer in seven of last nine. But the offense continues to be an issue, which at this point will hold back the Lightning from putting together an extended period of winning. In Tampa Bay's last 15 contests, 10 times they have scored two or fewer goals and while there has been some outbursts, last year's top scoring team is still ranked 22nd in scoring at 2.35 goals a game.

Washington (15-6 SU) has not had any problems scoring, with 13 goals during their three-game winning streak they have assembled. The scoring is coming from a variety of sources, with names like Alex Ovechkin, Justin Williams and Evgeny Kuznetsov all scoring and assisting their teammates.

Heritagesports.eu opened Washington as -145 on their NHL odds and the Capitols have been a bad matchup for Tampa Bay with recent 7-1-1 record and in each victory they have scored at least four times. Look for the Caps to move to 10-4 at home tonight.

NHL Pick: Capitals -140 at Bookmaker

Chicago Wins In Anaheim
Having spent Thanksgiving in California, Chicago (12-10 SU) resumes their western swing with fifth game of six on the road in Anaheim. The Blackhawks are 2-2 thus far and want to improve their 4-7 SU away record before heading home. Chicago will look to Patrick Kane to get the scoring going, as he leads this NHL in points with 34 and what makes this impressive is he is accomplishing this with new linemates, rookie Artemi Panarin and center Artem Anisimov, who were acquired from Columbus in trade in salary cap move of Brandon Saad.

The Ducks (8-15 SU) are still searching to find winning formula. After pathetic 1-9 start to the season, Anaheim and several hockey handicappers thought the Ducks had turned their season around with four-game winning streak from Nov. 1-7. This has not been the case as Anaheim has gone on to lose six of nine, mostly due to ghoulish offense which remains 29th at 1.91 GAG.

Chicago opened as +105 underdogs and earlier today were moved to -115 favorites and I agree with this as the Blackhawks 18-5 after two or more Over's and the Ducks 0-7 after a division contest.

NHL Pick: Blackhawks -117 at 5Dimes

Stars Shine After Loss
I was incorrect with one of my sports picks on Tuesday with Dallas (17-5 SU) having a really bad defensive game in 7-4 loss to Ottawa. Whatever could go wrong did for the Stars, who despite only having five setbacks, in four of those losses they have given up 23 goals.

Don't expect Dallas to be as loose defensively this time against a Vancouver (9-14 SU) team who can keep pace with them offensively. The Canucks are eighth in goals scored (2.87) compared the Stars No. 2 listing at 3.55 and their power play ranks seventh at 21 percent conversion rate. But these are the kind of opponents Dallas has thrived against, sporting an 8-0 record versus teams who collect 29 or more shots on goal, with a power play scoring percentage of 17% or higher. The Stars are also quite comfortable facing the Canucks, having beaten them eight straight times, which I will take them at -170.

NHL Pick: Stars -170 at Bovada
