When looking at the betting odds for today, have to say it's a little boring. Why, because the purpose of this article is to provide my NHL picks of the day and a couple are very familiar teams.

Yet, winning is winning and I'm off another profitable day, but admittedly a little perturbed Edmonton took a 2-0 lead in the third period at home last night and gave up three goals to Tampa Bay in the final stanza. Nonetheless, making money is never a bad thing and I will look to accomplish the same result with my NHL picks for Saturday.

Boston Continues Road Success
This is without a doubt one of the most unusual Boston teams in a number of years. Having lost five of six and starting a five-game road trip, for most teams the outlook would be rather bleak. But not for the Bruins (21-18 SU), who made the short trip to New Jersey and buried the Devils like a mob hit man in 4-1 triumph. That lifted Boston to 12-5 SU on the road, the third-finest away record in the league.

Ottawa's (19-22 SU) not going to be in a great mood for two reasons. First, having lost nine of 13 will make you grumpy, then, getting another look at the B's Brad Marchand, who gave a illegal ht on the Senators Mark Borowiecki and was immediately suspended three games last month.

The NHL odds opened with Ottawa as a short -108 home favorite and they have won four of past five on home ice against Boston. However, I think that changes today with the Bruins 9-4 if their opponent is off a game in which they scored two or fewer goals and they continue to be road warriors.

Dallas With Gritty Victory
The Stars (29-14 SU) have hardly been shining, and certainly not by their standards. The Western Conference's best team has won only three of last eight outings. The league's best offense and been stymied in recent games, scoring only twice in three of four contests, which is well below their 3.40 goals a game average. Even after first three-game losing streak of the season, Dallas had to go to OT to defeat Winnipeg 2-1 at home.

This has helped keep the betting odds down and Dallas is only a -150 home favorite over Minnesota (21-19 SU) in spite of being 17-4 SU at American Airlines Arena. It is not like the Wild is exceptional on the road either, with a 7-12 record and a long history of failure in the Lone Star State at 7-23 in last 30 conflicts in Big D. With the Stars 12-2 at home off a one goal victory and Minnesota a miserable 2-15 away against top caliber teams outscoring opponents by 0.65 or more goals a game, Dallas is your winner.

The Numbers Add up in Los Angeles Favor
Los Angeles (26-14 SU) has a healthy lead in the Pacific Division, but is only one point ahead of slumping St. Louis in the Western Conference. The Kings have not won a division title in 25 years, but could be on their way, in part because of their play at the Staples Center. After desultory 0-3 beginning, L.A has won 13 of 16 on home ice.

St. Louis (23-21 SU) hits the City of Angels on a five-game losing streak (two in OT), with a leaky defense, which has allowed at least three goals in seven straight games. St. Louis is also singing the blues because they have lost 11 in row to the Kings (three in playoffs) and they are expected to face goalie Jonathan Quick, who has been in net for 10 of the 11 wins during the Kings' home streak against the Blues, compiling a 1.22 goals-against average and four shutouts. One last bit of bad news for St. Louis, they are 0-6 in road games after allowing three goals or more in three straight contests the last three seasons.
