The Coyotes they take on a tough Ducks (0-1-1) team, who is looking for its first win of the season and led by superstar Corey Perry. Can the Coyotes go into "The Pond" and beat the NHL odds?

The NHL is off to a fast and furious start and one team that has gotten off to a surprising 2-0 start are the Arizona Coyotes. Although this is just a small sampling, it's certainly a good sign for the Coyotes

Face-off is set for 10:30 p.m. ET at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Despite being winless in 2 games, the Ducks are the far superior team and the NHL odds reflect that. They're a -205 betting favorite, according to 5Dimes and the total for the game is listed at 5.5.

Starting Goalies
As you know or if you didn't I always start off by listing the status of the starting goalies in net and if we can confirm it. This is a West Coast game, but it is confirmed that Mike Smith will be in net for Arizona while there's no confirmation from Anaheim as of yet, but we'll assume that the great Frederik Andersen will be between the pipes for the winless Ducks.

In his first 2 games of the season, Smith is 2-0 with a 1.00 GAA. He's turned away 65 of 67 shots thus far. The opposition will put the pressure on Arizona and especially in this game and this game could come down to the goaltending of Smith. Thus far, he's started off the season on the right foot and that can be huge for a weak team. Smith carries a 2.49 career GAA and a 163-159-49 career record. The Ducks could have their hands full if Smith continues to play well.

Frederik Andrersen, who is widely considered one of the best netminders in the NHL, has had two starts this season, sporting a 1.45 GAA and a 55-18-6 career record.

Unfortunately for Anderesen, he hasn't gotten the goal support, but we're just 2 games into the 2015-2016 NHL Season and I expect that to change. Anaheim has the decisive advantage a goalie, but would Mike Smith and the Coyotes be a good fade at these extreme betting odds?

Key Players For Anaheim
Seasonal Statistics aren't a factor. Right winger, Corey Perry, has been held scoreless in 2 games thus far, but look for the like of Ryan Getzlaf, Perry, and centerman, Ryan Kessler to lead the way for the Ducks.

Getzlaf and Perry are not going to put a ton of shots on net, each with less than 200 shots on goal last season as Getzlaf led the team in points with 70 as the set up man (45 assists) and Perry led the Ducks in goals with 33.

Both players also had significant plus/minus ratios and that definitely will come into play again this season. Another sneaky player to watch is left winger, Matt Beleskey. Beleskey is a goal scoring machine with 22 goals in the 65 games that he was able to play and he also had a superb plus/minus ratio. Along with defensman, Hampus Lindholm (+25) and 34 points, these are the players to keep an eye on in this game.

A Fresh Start
For the Coyotes, this was a very unproductive offensive team last season as defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson led the Coyotes with a mere 43 points. However Ekman-Larsson did prove that he could light the lamp with 23 goals, 10 being on the power play.

Ekman-Larsson has netted one goal this season in 2 games and thus far centerman Tobias Rieder (2 goals, 1 assist) and Martin Hanzal (3 assists) have led the way for the Coyotes and they have to be thrilled with their start to the season. Arizona can't expect a win here, but it's definitely attainable and would be huge for the Coyotes and of course the bettors that took the live underdog.

I dislike the odds intensely, but I'm going to side wth the better team with one of my NHL picks and that's Anaheim at home. Too much firepower and great goaltending. This is an experienced winner.
