Much has been said about the Jets bringing Ondrej Pavelec back into the goaltending mix but Championship Handicapper Dana Lane explains why his return will lead to cashing another NHL ticket.

Remember what we've always preached when you're handicapping tonight's Arizona Coyotes visit to Winnipeg's MTS Centre.

In order to be a success at wagering you must forget what you just saw.  What the public saw five days ago was a high scoring contest that sailed 'over' the total in a 4-3 Coyotes home win.  It appears that the public thinks they're are getting one over on the books because the majority tickets are being written on the 'over' due to what the "Joe's" consider an easy pick, considering they only have to lay -102 at 5Dimes

First, you can't ever equate home success for the Coyotes and transfer that to what they should do in Winnipeg considering Arizona is 0-4-2 in their last six visits.

It's much more reasonable to take the 3-1 loss to the Oilers to draw a picture of what tonight may have in store.  Goaltender, Mike Smith, said it best when he called their performance against Edmonton "Blah".  Head Coach, Dave Tippett added some clarity to Smith's assessment by saying that his team lacked "emotional engagement", a term that has officially is my book of hockey cliche's. Don't forget, Tippett has pubicaly called his team out this season at an alarming rate.

In the past they have responded but I'm not sure how long that's going to last. You can only go to the 'public embarrassment' card a few times before players become non-responsive. None the less, it's a spot on way to classify the Coyotes who are last in the NHL in scoring.  Unfortunately for Arizona, they just extended Tippet's contract another five seasons so the players know that Tippett is there to stay.

I'm sure the public has their reasons but I'm not sure how you can expect a team that barely scores two goals a game to push any contest over the 'total'.  Arizona puts only 28.1 shots on goal per game (27th).

Thankfully for Arizona they face the Winnipeg Jets who have their own treasure chest of problems.  The Jets have lost four in a row prompting them to make a goaltending move, bring Ondrej Pavelec back from the dead. This is Pavelec's shot to impress the other 30 teams.  Pavelec's contract pays him 4.75 million per year which means his days in Winnipeg are numbered. For us, expect Pavelec to give his best in hopes of being signed next season.

Both net-minders will play well tonight making this game a clear 'under'.
