Are you looking for betting value on tonight’s NHL card? We have exactly that in the Eastern Conference battle between Buffalo and Montreal. Read this informative article that also includes a free selection that can be used for one of your NHL picks today.

Atlantic Division Quick Rematch
The Canadiens and Sabres will meet tonight at the Bell Centre in Montreal with the opening puck drop slated for 7:05 PM ET. It will be a rematch of last night’s game at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo that was won by the Sabres 2-1. These teams haven’t seen any of their last 6-meetings go over the total. As a matter of fact the last 4-games in this head to head series between these Atlantic Division rivals have seen a combined 3-goals or less scored in each contest.  The loss last night by Montreal was their first in the last 7-games versus Buffalo.  According to the NHL betting odds at Pinnacle, Montreal is a -300 money line favorite, and the posted total is 5.0. The puck-line at 5Dimes shows Montreal -1.5 (-105) and Buffalo +1.5 (-105).

Finally Positive Signs
It’s been extremely difficult times for the Buffalo Sabres organization since the start of last season. After finishing with the fewest points in the 2013-2014 campaign, they started this season by losing 15 of their first 18-games, and the majority of those losses were in a lopsided fashion. However, the Sabres enter tonight having won 4 of their last 5-games and improved their money line record to 7-16 on the season. Despite such a poor record, they’ve lost just 1.7 money line betting units for the season. All 7 of their wins have come as a money line underdog of +160 or more. During this past 5-game stretch, if you were to have bet $100 on the Sabres against the money line, it would have resulted in a profit of $690. The Sabres have seen each of their previous 3-games go under the total with exactly 3-goals combined scored in each outing.

Restarting the Engine
The Canadiens will look to end a 2-game losing streak tonight. Prior to the recent 2-game skid they had won 8 of their previous 9-games. Montreal hasn’t seen any of their previous 6-games go over the total, and just 3 of their last 19 have surpassed the number. In all likelihood we’ll see Dustin Tokarski between the pipes for the Canadiens this evening. Tokarski has gone 3-2 in 5-starts this season, and has compiled a solid .919 save percentage. He’s also been particularly dominant in his starts versus the Sabres during the past 2-seasons. You may be very surprised to know that the Canadiens have been outscored 20-7 in the first period of their 24-games this season.

Final Analysis
The Sabres have gone a miserable 1-15 on the road the last 2-season following a win in their previous game, and were outscored by an average of 2.0 goals per game. Montreal has thoroughly enjoyed the playing on Saturdays this season, going a perfect 6-0 in that role, and outscoring those opponents by an average of 2.0 goals per contest. I’m going to lean toward make a puck-line selection in this game for one of my NHL picks today.
