The New York Rangers spanked the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-0 earlier this week and now the two teams are set for their rematch. The Pens are a big favorite on the NHL betting lines on Saturday.

The New York Rangers Can Win Because…
They’ve already done this once before. Not only that, they’ve actually dominated this series if you include the playoffs. Remember, they trailed the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1 in the second round of the playoffs but won three straight. With Tuesday’s win, that now makes it four in a row.

Although the Rangers aren’t playing great overall, they clearly have the Pens number. Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist has been a brick wall against them as he’s given up just three goals in the last four meetings. If he plays like that again on Saturday, the Rangers are going to make it five in a row.

The Pittsburgh Penguins Can Win Because…
The New York Rangers are playing poorly these days. Sure, they beat Pittsburgh but other than that, they’ve done little of anything. We’re talking about a team that’s won just twice in their last seven games. Defense is their calling card but that’s failed them miserably as they’ve allowed an average of 3.2 goals per game over their last six and that includes the shut out versus Pittsburgh.

The Pens are red hot right now as they’ve won eight of their last nine games. Tuesday was merely a flat spot for them as they were half asleep. On Saturday, they’ll be far more focused with revenge on their minds. Take them with your NHL picks.

Outlook & Pick
The Pens should be the logical choice here but the Rangers recent performance against the Pens has to be a bit of a concern. For whatever reason, they really know how to shut them down. On top of that, the Pens played on Friday night in Toronto, so this will be a back-to-back situation for them. Although it’s still early in the season, you never know when travel and zero-day-rest situations are going to become a factor.

The Pens have lost just four times all season (in 15 games), so the NHL odds are going to bounce back. We’re not going to lay the juice here but we’ll play the puck line. If the Pens win, they should win big. And if they lose, they won’t cost us as much.
