Rise and shine bright and early as the Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins get at it at 1:00 PM ET. It’s the first of two meetings the Caps and Bruins will have this week as they’ll also butt heads on Thursday.

The Washington Capitals Can Win Because…

They’re not far out of a playoff spot. If they can put it together for a couple of weeks, they could have a serious shot to make the postseason.

Boston has already proven that they are vulnerable as they lost to Buffalo earlier this week. In case you missed it, Buffalo is by far and away the worst team in the NHL. If Boston is going to play like that, they are going to be quite beatable on a nightly basis.

Washington had some momentum heading into the Olympic break and with a playoff spot within arm’s reach, they should carry that momentum over.

The Boston Bruins Can Win Because….

They are on a roll these days. They have lost in regulation just once in their last 12 games while picking up eight wins in that span. Washington is a flailing team and a very dicey bet on the road. They’ve won just 11 of 29 road games this season, which makes them a long shot on the NHL odds in this game. Conversely, Boston is 23-6-2 at home this year.

Washington has just six wins in their last 16 games. They’re not a team that’s heading in the right direction, so don’t take them with your sports picks.

Outlook & Pick

I’m not going to lay a bunch of juice here but what I will do is take the under. Tuukka Rask is expected to be back in net for the Bruins and he looked great in the Olympics. We’ll see if he can carry that over and help cash an under for our NHL picks.

Pick: Under 5.5 at Bovada
