We can anticipate Lightning money pouring in as they face a must-win situation in their attempt participate in the postseason but Dana Lane explains why this is the end of the road for Lightning hopes.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs Montreal Canadiens

It’s the last weekend for the National Hockey League so in true NHL form they have one game on a Friday night.  The schedule over the last week has been so unbalanced from night to night where one night we are treated to 13 games and the next we are deprived with just one.

The opening number has been late to come out because of the uncertainty of who was getting the starting nod in net for the Lightning, considering the Lightning are playing back to back games, and is Tyler Johnson going to be available. Johnson has been trying to play through a lower-body injury but he isn’t the same leaving with the Lightning with a huge hole in the middle.

As of now Carey Price and Andrei Vasilevskiy are the probable goaltenders.

To add to Jon Cooper’s injury concerns, Steven Stamkos won’t be on the ice this season despite previous hopes that he would return. You have to wonder if there is something mental with Stamkos, which comes with a knee injury. His absence has been a huge reason the Lightning have struggled for respectability this season. They haven’t come close to preseason expectations because of injuries and overall chemistry that probably goes hand in hand.

The only danger in this game is will the Montreal Canadiens put a full squad on the ice and if they do what kind of ice time will they get.  Knowing Claude Julien, I think it’s going to business as usual, considering the Canadiens have played only 13 games over the last month, giving them an easy path to the postseason.  Some teams have played 17 games over that time.  The Canadiens are rested and healthy except for Shea Webber, they still have more than enough to cash our ticket tonight.
