Even off an impressive road win Sunday at Anaheim, the Blues are having trouble keeping pace in the Central as Ottawa makes its only visit of the season to St. Louis on Tuesday. Read why the Blues will win their third straight game overall.

Season Record: 46-38  .548  +15.27 units

The Coyotes and Oilers cashed our 'under' bet Monday night in easy form as Cam Talbot was very good and Mike Smith was good enough. That makes nine winners in the last 13 plays as we head to the Scottstrade Center to get our crush another play Tuesday.

The Blues are currently -142 on NHL odds at most sportsbooks but as high as -150 in other spots, which makes a big difference at the end of the season.  I'm not sure we've touched on this, but I can't stress enough the importance of shopping multiple books. There is so much line variation that a savvy player who shops for the best lines can make a big impact on their bankroll vs. someone who doesn't, even if they own the same record.

The second half of this season is going to be a grind for the Ottawa Senators as they play 24 more times on the road, starting in St. Louis, where they kick off a three-game trip. If they can make the playoffs, the Sens could be a team to keep and eye on considering how battle-tested they will be.

Senators coach Guy Boucher said it best after his team dropped a 4-2 decision to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday when he stated that his team needs to be more difficult to play against.  That translates into toughness, and now you're asking the Senators to beat one of the toughest teams in the league.  His comments may be in preparation for this game, but after watching the Blues up close Sunday, I know they should wear down the Senators.  Anaheim brought the hits, and still the Blues found a way to get the road win.  That's the definition of toughness.

The Senators don't create enough offensive chances and don't seem to work hard enough to get those tough goals in front of the net.  They have only three players who have scored more than 10 goals. Ottawa doesn't get any help on the power play, either, ranking just 20th. If you can get consistent scoring you had better be efficient on the power play.

Nothing adds up for the Senators tonight, so let's lay the -142 to get our money.
