A couple of months ago, the Chicago Blackhawks were the favorites in the Western Conference and the St. Louis Blues were hoping to catch up. Now it’s the other way around as the Blues are the favorites and the Blackhawks are trying to catch up. On Wednesday, they’ll square off in a potential playoff preview.
Let our Daily NHL Value Picks help you cash in tonight.
The St. Louis Blues Can Win Because…
They’re the best team in the West right now. The Blues have won eight of nine and are suffocating their opponents. They are allowing just 1.67 goals per game in March, which is the best in the NHL. The addition of Ryan Miller has done wonders for a team that was already stingy. They’ve allowed just 17 goals in their last 11 games.
On top of that, the Blues have flat-out rolled their division opponents this year. They’ve won 20 of 22 games inside their division, which is a good enough reason to take them with your NHL picks.
The Chicago Blackhawks Can Win Because…
Is there a good reason? I know, I know…we’re talking about the Stanley Cup champs. But this is a team that hasn’t been themselves in 2014. They’ve won just 11 of their last 27 games, yet continue to cost you an arm and a leg on the NHL odds because of who they are.
They’ve lost nine of their last 15 games against teams with a winning record (-6.6 units) and just 9-14 inside their division (-13.8 units). You might want to think twice about betting them.
Outlook & Pick
I’m not willing to lay juice with my sports picks here. The Blackhawks are not the better team, they’re also in a back-to-back situation (and third game in four nights), and they’ve already lost the first three meetings between the teams this season. The Blackhawks are fading and the Blues are rising. Take them with your picks.
