In this NHL betting preview article I’ll be honing in on what I perceive to be the best underdog value on Friday’s card. I will conclude the article with a strong NHL money line betting system which has gone 40-17 since 1996 that further solidifies my case.

NHL Friday Night Lights in Detroit
The Red Wings will host the Islanders on Friday with the opening faceoff slated for 7:35 PM ET. According to the NHL odds at Bovada, the Detroit Red Wings are a -140 money line favorite. The Islanders have won each of their last 4-trips to Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, and that includes a 3-0 shutout of the Red Wings last season.

A Profitable Road Team
You may not be in awe of the Islanders 9-7 money line record this season. However, from a NHL betting standpoint I’m sure I can persuade you to change you thought process in that regard. That 9-7 record has returned a profit of 3.9 units. Let me put that number into proper perspective. If you were able to wager $200 per game on the Islanders in each of their road games this season, you would’ve realized a profit of $780, $500 per game made a profit of $1950, and dime players turned a profit of $3900. By the way, the Islanders are coming off a 3-2 win over the New Jersey Devils in their previous game, and they’ve gone a terrific 15-5 against the money line following a win this season.

Struggling to Score and Win
The Detroit Red Wings enter tonight having lost 4-games in a row, and scored a combined grand total of 4-goals in those contests. In case you’re looking for an excuse for their recent struggles then save yourself some time. They have none, considering 3 of those previous 4-games have come on home ice. The Red Wings have seen 5 of their last 6-games go under the total, and that includes each of their previous 2-times they’ve skated onto the ice. Detroit has gone a dismal 9-23 during the past 2-seasons following 2 or more games in a row staying under the total.

NHL Money Line Betting System
The islanders enter tonight playing on 3-days of rest, and are coming off 1-goal home wins in each of their previous 2-games. This sets up an extremely profitable betting system which favors the money line road underdog in this game. I would be absolutely foolish to disregard this valuable handicapping tool when making my NHL picks for today.

Any team (Islanders) coming off 1-goal home wins in each of their previous 2-games, and they’ll be playing on 3-days or more of rest, has seen that team go 40-17 (70.2%) against the money line since 1996.
