In two of the four divisions, the playoffs have unofficially already started as the competition of this final week will be extraordinary. Good luck to those of us who have to figure out betting on the NHL.
Montreal wins the Atlantic Division title this week, but who will fill the three remaining playoff spots and in what order? As of Monday morning, Boston is in second place in the Atlantic, having won five in a row and with three home games remaining. The bad news for the Bruins is that and Ottawa are one point behind, have played two fewer games and will have opportunities to surpass them.
After playing at Buffalo on Monday, the Maple Leafs have four contests on home ice, but check out who they are against: Washington, Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, Columbus, who are all trying to get to best playoff positions. The Senators have lost four in a row, all on the road, and will be at Detroit, the New York Islanders and a massive matchup at Boston on April 6.
Tampa Bay is three points out of last playoff spot and has to win each time to even have a chance. Nothing easy in this batch for making NHL picks! Whoever finishes in second place will have home-ice edge in first round of Stanley Cup playoffs and who closes in fourth places draws the powerful Capitals.
Nothing Passive About Pacific Division
Out West, even if you have enjoyed a great season against the NHL odds, figuring out the Pacific Division is almost impossible. Anaheim is in first place by two points, thanks to an 8-0-3 run and has three home tilts left. Edmonton has won nine of 10 to jump into second place but has three consecutive road games before the home finale.
San Jose has fallen from first to third by dropping eight of 10, but could finish second by winning out, which would include a home victory over Edmonton. Calgary is probably going to finish in fourth place, having to play three away outings, but will have chances to move up in facing the Ducks and the Sharks.
