Chicago and Minnesota resume their playoff series tonight, and our NHL betting odds guru previews this contest. Read what he has to say, and find out who his NHL free pick is on.

Turning into a Terrific Series
The Wild will host the Blackhawks on Tuesday at the Excel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota with the opening face-off slated for 9:05 PM ET. This will be Game 6 of their Western Conference Semifinal series that Chicago leads 3-2. According to NHL betting odds Chicago is a -130 money line road favorite and the posted total is 5.0. The home team is 16-5 in the last 21 meetings between these teams.

Wild about being Home
Although the Wild is on the brink of elimination being down 3-2 in the series, they still remain confident. After all, they were in this identical situation during their opening round versus Colorado, and won the last 2-games to advance. In addition, this is a Wild team that's an excellent 31-15 at home this season, including a perfect 5-0 during the playoffs. They've also defeated the Blackhawks the last 4 times they've visited the Xcel Energy Center. The Wild has done a terrific job of limiting the high flying Hawks goal scoring opportunities. Chicago is averaging just 22.2 shots on goal during the first 5-games of this series. That's 9 shots less per game than they've  averaged this season.

Hawks go for the Kill
The Chicago Blackhawks put themselves in a favorable position with a Game 5 home win. However, it didn't come easy, as they overcame a 1-0 deficit, and then held on for a 2-1 win. The Hawks have inexplicably struggled mightily on the road over the last couple of months. Chicago has gone a dismal 7-20 in their last 27 away games, including just 1-4 during the playoffs. The Hawks have gone under the total in just 1 of their last 8 following a game in which they scored 2-goals or less.

Final Analysis
I look for this game to hold true to form with the home team coming out on top. The Wild have been terrific at home, while the Hawks for whatever reason haven't been the same team on the road, than they've been at the United Center this season. Bet Wild over Blackhawks for NHL picks.
