The Los Angeles Kings are looking hot lately, and are looking pretty good against a slumping Edmonton Oilers teams. Let's take a look at the odds and see who lands a spot in our NHL picks.

And the Oilers are slumping…once again. It’s time we accept that this team is just not very good and regardless of the offensive talent, the burgeoning young players and the potential, they just don’t cash in for us enough against the sportsbooks.

They enter Tuesday’s affair with the Los Angeles Kings on a three-game losing streak and as losers in four of five. It will be tough to back them in Los Angeles.

The Edmonton Oilers scan win because…

The Kings just finished a four-game road trip. Often times teams play a bit flat-footed when they’re back playing their first home game after a road trip. That’s what the Oilers are banking on as well as the fact that it will be the Kings third game in four nights.

The Kings have not been a good home team of late as they’ve dropped four of their last five at the Staples Center. People making their NHL picks might want to think twice about laying all of that juice on the NHL odds.

The Los Angeles Kings can win because…

The Oilers are just a train wreck. When you start to look at a snapshot of their season, you see just four wins in their first 21 games, then they managed to win four of five, and have since lost six of nine. When you look at Edmonton’s recent wins, you can see that they’re only capable of beating up on the weaker teams. Other than wins against Colorado and Montreal, they haven’t beaten a team with a winning record this season.

The Kings are hot right now as they’ve won six of seven. They are clearly the better team and are the better choice for your NHL picks.

NHL Picks: Tuesday Picks of the Day

Outlook & Pick

There’s no way I can bet the Oilers but I’d be wary of some fatigue here for the Kings. They just concluded a four-game road trip and this will be their third game in four nights. They also played the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday, so they may have a tough time getting up for this game as much as they did that one.

Instead, I’ll take the under. The Oilers don’t score much and the Kings defense/goaltending has been airtight as they’ve allowed just 20 goals in their last 12 games.

Pick: Under 5.5 at Pinnacle
