The Los Angeles Kings are coming off a surprising home loss on Monday, falling 3-2 to the Minnesota Wild. Will they bounce back or will they prove to be another costly pick on the NHL odds?

The Phoenix Coyotes Can Win Because…
They’ve had plenty of success against the Kings this season. The Coyotes have won three straight meetings between the teams, outscoring them 10-4. Goaltender Mike Smith has always played well against the Kings, going 11-4-1 against them with a 2.16 GAA. As for Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick, for whatever reason, the Coyotes seem to have his number. He’s just 13-13-3 against the Coyotes with a 2.68 GAA. That GAA is the third-highest Quick has against any team in the Western Conference.

With an edge in net, take a shot with the Coyotes with your NHL picks.

Valuable NHL Picks for Wednesday Night

The Los Angeles Kings Can Win Because…
The Kings are the better team right now. Even with the loss to Minnesota, they’ve still won 14 of their last 18 games and are streaking towards the playoffs. They allowed just 2.00 goals per game in the month of March, which was second-best number in the NHL. That figures to be a big challenge for the Coyotes to overcome as they scored just 2.47 goals per game in March, which is 25th in the NHL.

Add to that the fact that the Coyotes are in a back-to-back situation after playing Winnipeg last night and this figures to be a very tight spot for them. The Kings have won six of the last nine meetings they’ve hosted, so taking them on the NHL odds is reasonable in this spot.

Outlook & Pick
I can’t lay this type of juice knowing that Smith and the Coyotes seem to be a consistent thorn in the Kings side. Instead, I’ll look to the under as the Coyotes are having a tough time scoring these days while the Kings are playing well on defense. The under is 19-7 this season when the Kings play a team with a losing record and 17-8 in their last 25. I’ll bank on a low-scoring game here.
