The Vancouver Canucks and Minnesota Wild are both fighting for their playoff lives. The Wild appear to be comfortably but if they continue to play like they have, the odds are good that they’ll be on the outside in quick time.

The Vancouver Canucks Can Win Because…

The Wild just can’t get it together. This is a team that’s dropped seven of their last 10 games and is having a really tough time finding wins in the most critical part of the season. They might be at home but they haven’t been a reliable bet there either as they’ve dropped four of their last five at the Xcel Energy Center.

The biggest challenge for the Wild is goaltending right now. The Wild have given up three goals or more in four of their last five. That simply won’t cut it.

The Minnesota Wild Can Win Because…
They’re a quality team at home. If you’ve been taking the Wild with your sports picks when they’ve been at home, you’re 23-13. Even though they haven’t played great there recently, they are still one of the league’s better home teams. On top of that, the Canucks are a crummy road team with a record of 15-23. They’ve lost nine of their last 11 on the road. The main issue for the Canucks is they don’t produce as much offense on the road (2.11 goals per game) as they do at home (2.60). They are 29th in goals per game on the road.

Outlook & Pick
The Canucks are playing decent these days with wins in four of their last six. It’s hard to trust them, though, as those wins have mostly come against the league’s worst teams like Florida, Nashville and Buffalo.

These two teams tend to play low-scoring affairs, so we’ll bank on an under with our NHL picks then.
