Bet the Over when Rangers & Senators Flex Offensive Muscles

Ottawa Senators

History tells us that games between these two franchises have resulted in an ‘under’ 76% of the time over their last 52 meetings but NHL analyst Dana Lane says not so fast when betting this ‘total’.

We haven't been able to count on the New York Rangers as a home play because they can’t seem to find consistency at MSG. That may be changing now that the Rangers have won three straight at home. The Rangers ended their home record at just 21-16-4 but still finished tied for 9th in home scoring and have scored 10 goals in three MSG playoffs games. Ottawa has nine in four postseason road games. The 'over' is 5-2-2 in the Senators last 9 road games.

Also, keep checking SBR's NHL Odds throughout the day to take advantage of all the NHL’s best available lines.

The Ottawa Senators are at this point mostly because they bought into Guy Boucher’s system and goaltender Craig Anderson has been spectacular, but are we started to see Anderson’s game come apart some considering he’s allowed nine goals in his last two starts. Henrik Lundqvist is 5-4 in the postseason with a .935 save percentage and a 2.03 goals against but he’s facing almost 35 shots a night leading me to wonder if he’s due for a bad start.

As the series has progressed it appears as if the Rangers are trying to push the tempo a bit making it difficult for the Senators to get any offensive zone time. The Rangers outshot the Senators 15-5 in the 1st period in game three.

I don’t think either teams gets enough credit for their offensive depth. Third line center  Jean-Gabriel Pageau has five goals in his last two games while the Rangers fourth line had a goal and two assist for the leagues fourth-ranked offensive.

A constant wave of fire power against two netminders that might be ripe for a letdown has me looking a plus money 'over' ticket tonight.
