The New York Rangers & Vancouver Canucks ended up swapping head coaches last offseason. It’s worked out better for the Rangers, who are in playoff position in the East & are nine points better than the Canucks. That’s why the Rangers are a mid-sized road favorite on the NHL odds on Tuesday.

The New York Rangers Can Win Because…
They’ve quietly been a roll. They aren’t getting much attention but they’ve won six of their last seven games. It’s pretty easy to see why as they’ve allowed just 13 goals in that span. They’ve won four of their last five away games and are playing with a lot of confidence these days. The same can’t be said for the Canucks.

The Nuckleheads have now dropped two straight games following a brief spell where they played well (won five of seven) but that was after they lost 20 of 25. The Canucks are dead in the water and have nothing to play for. Take the Rangers with your NHL picks as they are the team that’s playing better hockey right now.

The Vancouver Canucks Can Win Because…
The Rangers are a streaky team. Yes, they’ve won six of seven right now but prior to that, they had lost six of nine. They can go from hot to cold really quickly. The main reason for it is that Lundqvist just hasn’t played as well on the road as he has at home. At Madison Square Garden, King Henrik has a 2.18 GAA and a .924 save percentage. On the road, those numbers change to 2.74 and .910. That’s why the Canucks should have a shot.

Outlook & Pick
It’s hard to back the Canucks right now with my sports picks. They definitely won’t have the edge in net on Tuesday. While the Rangers are playing well defensively, Canucks goaltender Eddie Lack has allowed 31 goals in his last 10 games. He has an .898 save percentage in his last 16 games and that’s simply not good enough. The Rangers are comfortable playing on the road (24-14), so look for them to take care of business.
