After starting the season with three straight losses, the Los Angeles Kings have won seven straight. Can they keep the NHL odds rolling on Monday against the Stanley Cup Champions, the Blackhawks?

The Kings come into this game as one of the hottest teams in the NHL. After their first three contests, they had allowed 12 goals, were outscored 12-2 and there were some serious concerns. Head coach Darryl Sutter was squarely on the hot seat. However, they’ve turned it around in a big way, as they’ve won seven straight. They’ve scored three or more goals in five straight games, while allowing two or less in six of their last seven. As obvious as it sounds, this team has two main flaws when they lose and that’s that their offense disappears and Jonathan Quick is inconsistent between the pipes. Over the last two weeks they’ve been great in both departments, and that’s why they’ve been cashing with regularity on the NHL odds.

As for the Blackhawks, they’ve been a streaky team. They already have two winnings streaks and two losing streaks of two games or longer and we’re barely a month into the season. Their offense has been wildly inconsistent as they have averaged just 1.6 goals per game in their losses but have scored 2.7 in the wins. They’ve struggled on the road (1-4) but the good news is they’ve played well at home (5-1). The good news for them is they’re at home in this one.

Projected Starting Goalies
We’re likely to see Quick and Corey Crawford in this one as both teams bring out their best guns. Quick had a really rough start to the season as he had sub-.800 save percentages in his first two games. However, he’s been really good of late, allowing an average of 1.43 goals per game over his last seven.

As for Crawford, he’s been excellent all season long. He has a 1.76 GAA and .938 save percentage on the season, which ranks him among the best in the NHL in both categories.

The Kings have only given up nine goals during their seven wins after allowing 12 in their first three. Do you really want to go against them with your NHL picks? On top of that, you can get them as a dog in this spot. However, can you really bet against a Blackhawks team that’s won five straight at home?

We’re faced with a total of five here and while both goaltenders have played well overall, I still see an over in this spot. Quick has an .885 save percentage in his last 12 starts against the Blackhawks, so they clearly have his number. The Blackhawks have won five of the last regular season meetings while scoring 20 goals in those contests. As for Crawford, he has an .872 save percentage against the Kings in his last eight starts. That being the case, I’ll go over.
