Senators Making their Move

You can certainly make the case that the Ottawa Senators were the biggest disappointment in the Eastern Conference through the 1st half of the season. However, they’ve really turned the corner in the last few weeks. Ottawa enters tonight’s divisional game versus Montreal having won 6 of their last 7. This will also be their first game at home since returning from a successful 4-game road swing that saw them go 3-1. They last played on Tuesday in a 3-0 win at Minnesota. Robin Lehner led the way in that win by stopping all 27 of Minnesota’s shots on goal, and earned his first shutout of the season. The Senators have gone under the total in their last 2-games, after going under the total just twice in their previous 10-games leading up to that point. The Senators are currently tied for 5th with Detroit in the Atlantic Division, and are locked in a 3-way tie for 9th overall in the Eastern Conference.

Up and Down Stretch for the Habs

The Canadians have been stuck in neutral of late as they’ve gone 7-7 over their last 14-games. They’ve scored 2-goals or less in each of their last 4-games, and none of those contests went over the total. Tonight will be the first of a 4-game road swing for Montreal. They’re a very respectable 12-10 versus the money line on the road this season. The Canadians have gone over the total in just 6 of their 22 road games this year. However 5 of those 6-games that went over the total have occurred in their last 9 on the road. Montreal is coming off a 4-1 home loss to New Jersey in their previous game. The Canadians are a dismal 2-8 versus the money line in their last 10, following a loss by 3-goals or more in their previous game. The Canadians are currently 3rd in the Atlantic Division, and 4th overall in the Eastern Conference.
