The Philadelphia Flyers are a huge underdog on the NHL odds this Tuesday in Chicago against the Blackhawks. They've lost 4 of 5 but are coming off their 1st win of the season.

The Philadelphia Flyers Can Win Because…
They’ve shown signs of life. Yes, they have just one win in five games to start the season but NHL betting handicappers have to notice the trends. They lost their first two games outright, then took two pretty good teams to shootouts and lost (the Montreal Canadiens and Anaheim Ducks), and then beat the Dallas Stars. Although the record isn’t pretty, this is a team that’s stopped the bleeding and is trending upwards. They should be able to put up a fight in Chicago. The Blackhawks have looked beatable so far, including a 2-1 loss at home to Calgary last Wednesday. That cost bettors about -250 and that hurts. Three of the Blackhawks first four games have gone to overtime, so the Flyers should have a shot.

The Chicago Blackhawks Can Win Because…
They’ll have a huge edge in net. Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford has a goals-against average of 1.66 so far this season, which is spectacular. He’ll either be up against Ray Emery (2.73) or Steve Mason (3.78) but neither is a solid option.

The Blackhawks are the only team in the NHL without a regulation loss and there’s a reason for it. They’re a quality team up and down the roster. Taking care of a scuffling, less-than-stellar Flyers team shouldn’t be a problem.

Outlook & Pick
Laying -200 for your NHL pick tonight just isn’t advisable here – not knowing that the Blackhawks lost to Calgary as a huge favorite last week. Instead, the options are either the puck line or the total. With Corey Crawford playing so well right now, lay the puck line as long as he’s between the pipes. Otherwise, 'over' is the play.
