The Philadelphia Flyers have seemingly gotten things on track as they’ve won two of three and appear to be trending in the right direction. Can the keep it going as they lay a bit of juice on the NHL betting lines when the Detroit Red Wings visit on Saturday?

The Detroit Red Wings Can Win Because…
They’ve been cooking. The Red Wings have won three of four and appear to be trending in the right direction. They are fresh off an impressive come-from-behind win over the Pittsburgh Penguins and have allowed just six goals in their last four games. Their defense and goaltending has been airtight and that could be a problem for the Flyers.

The Flyers are a big question mark right now. They have yet to win a home game this season, allowing at least four goals in every single contest. Do you really want to be laying juice on the NHL odds with a team like this?

The Philadelphia Flyers Can Win Because…
Momentum is on their side. The Flyers had a very rough start to the season but have won two of their last three games to get back on track. Their offense has done well in those two wins, scoring a total of 11 goals. When they’re scoring goals, they’re winning games.

The Flyers play very well against the Red Wings at home as they’ve won eight straight times as the host. Clearly, the Red Wings really struggle in this venue. If the Flyers can keep their power play going, which is converting at 26.9% of the time, they’ll be in great shape on Saturday night.

Outlook & Pick
This is a tough game to handicap. The Flyers are favored by they’ve been a mess at home this season. As for Detroit, they’ve won three of four but the general consensus – especially in their very lucky come-from-behind win versus Pittsburgh in their latest outing – is that they’ve been more lucky than good.

I’ll take a shot with Philadelphia for my NHL picks based on the fact that the line is low and that they dominate Detroit at home. This is a small play but for those reasons, it’s still a play.
