The Boston Bruins Can Win Because…
The Rangers aren’t a reliable bet when they’re at home. Case and point: the Rangers are 3-3 in their last six home games with ugly losses to the New York Islanders and Edmonton Oilers under their belts. That’s not pretty.
Although the Bruins have lost two straight, they’ll be plenty confident against the Rangers, a team they have dominated in recent meetings. The Bruins are worth adding to your NHL picks because they’ve won six of the last seven meetings between the teams and you get them as the dog here.
The New York Rangers Can Win Because….
The Bruins are having trouble at the defensive end right now. All of those trade rumors about the Bruins hunting for a defenseman make sense: they can’t seem to stop their opponents from scoring. In two games since the break, they’ve allowed nine goals. The Bruins are built around defense and conservative play, yet they’ve incrementally allowed more goals per game through each month of the season. Although the Rangers can sometimes be offensively-challenged, the Bruins are not as airtight as they used to be. New York will have an opening.
Outlook & Pick
New York is favored but I’m willing to take a shot with the Bruins on the NHL odds. The Rangers are just 9-15 this season when at home with a total of five or less, and that’s a concern. Both teams are in back-to-back situations but I see the Bruins as being the better team, so I’ll take them with my sports picks since they’re a dog.
