I'm glad that the odds makers made the Chicago Blackhawks vs. Carolina Hurricanes a bettable game as the Blackhawks are a -178 betting favorite on the road, because this game could get ugly in a hurry. While Chicago sits comfortably with 92 points, the Canes are at the bottom of their respective division and are no test for Chicago..

Face-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET at PNC Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina. As stated earlier, the Blackhawks are a -178 betting favorite, according to the NHL betting odds while the total is listed at 5 goals.

Even though this is a complete mismatch and Chicago is 7-2-1 in their last 10 games, they're coming off of a 4-0 loss to the Dallas Stars. This could give Carolina some hope as the Blackhawks don't score a ton of goals and we'll have to see if the momentum or lack there of, carries over to tonight.

Starting Goalies
There's no confirmation if Corey Crawford will be in net for Chicago, but it's "Likely" that Anton Khudobin will be between the pipes for the Canes. This coming from a reliable source.

Both teams have a common recent opponent in a great New York Rangers team. The Blackhawks won in a 1-0 defensive battle at MSG The Hurricanes didn't perform as well, they took the Rangers to a 3-2 shootout loss and that tells me that they still have some fight.

With Khudobin in net, they'll need to have some fight as the part-time goalie hasn't faired too well this season. For the season, Anton Khudobin is 8-14-5, with a 2.64 GAA. I could consider the record a lack of goal support, but what's his excuse for barely eclipsing the .900 SV% mark?

For the Blackhawks, Corey Crawford is very reliable at 29-15-5 with a 2.21 GAA. The Blackhawks also are 3rd in the NHL in goals allowed at just 2.3 goals. Although Crawford is 5-1-1 with a 1.70 GAA in the month of March, he would like to forget his last outing as he allowed 4 goals to Dallas and the offense didn't help. I look for Crawford to bounce back and for guys like Patrick Kane to get more offensive opportunities as Anton Khudobin is no match for the Hawks.

Jonathan Toews
While Patrick Kane leads the Blackhawks in goals, assists, and points, Toews has been the go to player as of late. What I like about Toews is his plus/minus ratio. It's a +26 and no Blackhawk, including Patrick Kane, comes anywhere near that feat.

Thanks to a 2 goal 2 assist effort against the New York Islanders on the 17th of March, Toews has 9 points in his last 8 games. That game is no fluke as he sports 23 goals and 36 assists for the season. Toews has also played very well against Carolina. In just 1 game, Jonathan Toews has 2 goals and 1 assist against the Canes. Might we see another outburst such as the previous one by Toews in the meeting between these two teams? It's likely that he will be a factor in this game and that spells trouble for the Hurricanes.

No 20 Goal Scorers?
At just 2.3 goals per game of offense, the Carolina Hurricanes better have the game of their lives because we don't know what we're going to see from them in the form of defense. The one player that's shown any form of life as of late is center, Elias Lindholm.

Lindholm is coming off of a goal in the Rangers game and has 5 goals and 3 assists in his last 10 games. He will need to be at his best as Eric Staal has been completely invisible lately and against the Blackhawks, that means a huge blowout in Chicago's favor.

There's nothing to think about here. The odds aren't even -200. Look for Chicago to steamroll the Hurricanes in the Canes building for your NHL picks.
