The New Jersey Devils and Detroit Red Wings finish up their home-and-home series on Friday night as it’s now Detroit’s turn to play host. Oddly enough for Detroit, they had a matchup with Colorado in between (last night) while the Devils have been off since topping the Red Wings 4-3 on Tuesday.

Take a look at the top NHL Stanley Cups odds available!

The New Jersey Devils Can Win Because…

They’ve won three of four and have some momentum going. While most people have written off the Devils this season, the truth is that they’re only one point out of a playoff spot. They’ve won three of their last four games and seem to have their eye on the prize right now. One of the teams they’re competing with for a playoff spot is the Red Wings, which means the Devils can’t afford to slip up here. They took care of business once this week and now they’ll be quite confident they can do it again – especially now that the Red Wings are in a back-to-back situation.

The Detroit Red Wings Can Win Because…

The Devils are a so-so team. New Jersey has dropped four of their last six away games and has been a shaky road bet all season (12-20). Although they’ll have more rest for this one, that might not be a good thing. They are only 4-9 when playing with two days’ rest, costing bettors 5.7 units.

The Red Wings have lost two straight but this is not a team that goes on long streaks. They haven’t won or lost more than two in a row since December 19th. Look for them to bounce back here.

Outlook & Pick

There’s an odd trend you might want to be aware of here before you make your sports picks: the Devils don’t play well on Fridays (3-10) while the Red Wings have been awesome (6-1). Even though the Red Wings are in a back-to-back situation, I’ll take a shot with them with my NHL picks as they have won nine of the last 11 meetings at home between the teams.

Pick: Red Wings -118 at Pinnacle
