The Anaheim Ducks Can
The Canucks have packed it in. This is a team that’s been bad for months now and has struggled to beat any quality teams. They are coming off a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings but otherwise, their last five wins have come against Minnesota, Buffalo, Nashville, Florida, Winnipeg and Calgary. Other than that, they only have one other win in their last 25 games.
The Canucks are really having a tough time scoring goals as they have averaged just 2.17 in their last 18 games. That ranks 28th in the NHL in that span. The Ducks are at 3.12 over the same time period and that’s one of the main reasons why they’ll get the job done on Monday.
Canucks Can Win Because…
The Ducks have some issues. They played in Edmonton last night but prior to that, had some big problems falling behind during their three-game home stand. They fell behind 3-0 to Nashville in the first before losing 5-2, they were trailing Winnipeg 4-1 entering the third period before winning 5-4 and they trailed Edmonton 2-0 in the third before winning 3-2. Although their placing in the standings indicates that this is one of the better teams in the NHL, their performance recently says otherwise. The Ducks were 40-11-5 at the end of January. They are just 10-8-3 since. Vancouver will have a shot here.
Outlook & Pick
Rest could be a factor here as the Canucks only played Tuesday and Saturday last week. As for the Ducks, not only is it a back-to-back situation but third game in four nights, all in different cities. However, the Ducks have dominated this series, winning four straight while outscoring the Canucks 19-5 in the process.
