NHL Pick: Avalanche -145
Best Line Offered: at William Hill

Winnipeg Jets
The Jets are just 3-8 in their last 11 games, so they really need to find a way to stop the bleeding and get a win. Winnipeg is coming off a 5-3 home loss against Carolina last night. The Hurricanes scored four times on their first nine shots, leading 4-0 just 10:04 into the game.

Winnipeg averages 2.6 goals per game and they score on just 16.7 percent of their power plays. Bryan Little leads the team with 15 goals, Blake Wheeler has 49 points and 35 assists and Drew Stafford has 116 shots on goal. The Jets give up 2.9 goals per game and they kill 77.1 percent of their power play chances. Connor Hellebuyck allows 2.31 goals per game and Michael Hutchinson gives up 2.92 goals per game.

Colorado Avalanche
The Colorado Avalanche came out of a rough portion of their schedule with three losses in their last four games. The Avalanche lost to the Sharks, Blackhawks and Stars. Last Thursday's loss in Dallas was especially tough, since it came by a 4-3 score in overtime. Colorado was outshot by a 44-24 margin in the setback.

Colorado is averaging 2.7 goals per game and they score on 19.3 percent of their power plays. Matt Duchene leads the team with 42 points and 23 goals, Carl Soderberg has 25 assists and Nathan MacKinnon has 176 shots on goal and 42 points. The Avalanche allow 2.7 goals per game and they kill 79.8 percent of their power play chances. Semyon Varlamov allows 2.59 goals per game and Reto Berra gives up 2.41 goals per game.

Betting Trends
The Jets are 6-13 ATS in a road game where where the total is 5.5, 6-14 ATS vs. division opponents and 3-7 ATS when playing on back-to-back days.

The Avalanche are 12-6 ATS vs. division opponents, 11-7 ATS after allowing 4 goals or more and 3-1 ATS when playing against a team with a losing record in the second half of the season.

Final Analysis
Winnipeg is at -145 on the NHL odds board while Winnipeg is at +125 and the total has been set at 5.5. The Jets are just 5-13 in their last 18 games against Western Conference opponents while the Avalanche are 16-6 in their last 22 games against Central Division opponents.

The Avalanche are playing better hockey and the struggling Jets are in the second game of a back-to-back. I like the Avalanche at home for one of my NHL picks. Keep in mind that Winnipeg has lost four straight games in Colorado and the last four meetings overall.
