2016-17 NHL Picks Record: 20-15 .571 +13.51 units
@DanaLaneSports @DanaLaneNHL

When the Calgary Flames finished off their 2-1 comeback victory last night, that meant my followers had hit another bankroll milestone as it now stands at its highest peak of +13.51 units.

I wanted to bring this up because it's important to understand how we got there because for a couple weeks we were just maintaining our bankroll until we found our recent streak. Why is this important? Mostly because the undisciplined player will have blown their bankroll already because profits weren't feeding their wallet on a nightly basis. This is where the NHL prediction business has more lessons to teach than just who I think will win. You must be emotionally and fiscally strong to beat the sportsbooks. Those who did are now riding a three-game winning streak with their bankroll still intact. Slow and steady.

Since home favorites (114-46, 64.77%) are dominating the NHL landscape let's see if there are any strong secondary plays to consider for trend bettors.

From my standpoint, tonight's card doesn't offer a solid betting opportunity but it seems that the public isn't scared off of the Anaheim Ducks price as 76% of all tickets written are Ducks tickets, problem is, we're not going to give a -170 as a play because it's an irresponsible play that defies the goals of money management. So follow if you'd like but smarter players will stay away.

For players that like to get that extra support by taking the +1.5, you are continuously asked to lay a large price even though puck-line underdogs are 162-82 (66.39%). Tonight the Betting public seems to like the Arizona Coyotes +1.5 but are we really going to lay -290? No thanks, we're taking the Coyotes to win outright cashing our plus money play.

'Totals' are much more of a reasonable option as 'unders' further their dominance on a daily basis. Betting 'unders' have been profitable as they are now cashing at just under 55%. The line hasn't moved yet but if you want to bet the Ducks/Devils 'under' 5, you may want to get on it now as the public has pounded the game to go 'under' which means the -130 you have to pay now may go up even though that's a high price to lay for a 'total'.

Arizona Coyotes vs Vancouver Canucks

Tonight we're taking the Arizona Coyotes at +120 over the Vancouver Canucks. Too many people don't understand the dynamics of a team that played the night before because they are usually the team that comes out stronger over teams that are the most rested squad. I expect the 'Yotes to get on top early for my NHL pick.

Free NHL Pick: Arizona +120

Best Line Offered: at 5Dimes

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3037544, "sportsbooksIds":[19,1275,43,227,92], "LineTypeId":2, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]
