Ducks stay in the Pacific to take on Kings
The Kings will entertain the Ducks on Saturday afternoon at the Staples Center in Los Angeles with the opening face-off slated for 4:05 PM ET. According to the NHL odds at 5Dimes, the Kings are a -145 money line favorite, and the posted total is 5.0. These clubs met just this past Tuesday in Anaheim, and the Ducks came away with a 6-5 overtime win. It was a rare high scoring game for both teams, with the Ducks going over the total for the first time in 13-games, and the Kings surpassing the number for just the 5th time in 17-games this season.

An Overdue Offensive Outburst
Prior to their 6-goal explosion on Tuesday night, the Ducks had scored a mere 12-goals combined in their previous 8-games. Anaheim also held a huge territorial edge in the win over the Kings with a 49-26 shots on goal advantage. The 6-goals for the Ducks marked their season high, surpassing the previous best of 5 they set at Buffalo on October 13th. It was a rare shaky start for the Ducks goaltender Frederik Andersen who had been magnificent to start the year. Tuesday was the first time the Ducks had gone over the total in 6 home games with Andersen as their starter. Despite his subpar performance, Andersen still maintains an excellent .935 save percentage in 11-starts. The Anaheim Ducks have gone an extremely profitable 30-9 during the past 2-seasons following a game in which they scored 4-goals or more.

Anything but Kings Recently
The defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings have struggled during the past few weeks. They’ve gone a dismal 2-7 against the money line over the past 9-games. Following their loss at Anaheim on Tuesday, the Kings were shutout 2-0 at home 2-days later by the Dallas Stars. Despite the loss, the Kings are a stellar 7-3 against the money at home this season. One of the areas of concern in the early going of the season has been the power play. Los Angeles has converted on only 11.1% of their power play chances, and that includes going a miserable 1-for-15 during the past 5-games. On a more positive note, the Kings have gone a terrific 20-5 against the money line at home during the past 3-seasons, following a game in which there were 3 or fewer goals combined scored.

NHL Betting System
When making your NHL picks its worth noting that any road team (Ducks) that’s coming off a 1-goal win versus a division opponent in their previous game, and is facing a team (Kings) that’s coming off a home loss, has seen 53 of those 79-games (67.1%) go over the total during the past 5-seaons.
