With no featured game on Sunday afternoon on NBC, all the NHL Odds boards are aligned with night games. This affords you some extra time to go over what you might like on the icefor today.

On Friday, we squeaked out a small profit, making it the 12 winning days for NHL picks in our last 15 tries, which can on the heels of winning 15 of 18 times with a three-day losing streak in the middle. Honestly, not real easy to uncover three plays versus the NHL odds for Sunday, but we did and we suggest to also read our take on Islanders at Rangers battle here at sportbookreview.com.

Rested St. Louis Cannot Overcome Minnesota
St. Louis (37-29 SU) wraps up four-game road trip in Minnesota this evening but it hardly feels like it. The Blues won at Ottawa 4-3 on Tuesday and have not played since, but have practiced and rested plenty and they sit two points behind Dallas and Chicago in the Central Division with everyone having 16 games to play. St. Louis has made a move thanks to winning seven of 10, but could have their hands full again tonight.

Minnesota (31-35 SU) has been through a wild season (pun intended). After losing 13 of 14, the Wild fired their head coach, won four in the row, dropped their next three and rattled off four more victories. You would not be out of line to think of Minnesota as streaky. Talking about streaks, the Wild have won four of five at home over St. Louis and one of the reasons has been projected goaltender Devan Dubny's excellence between the pipes. Dubny is 4-1-1 with a 1.98 goals-against average in his last six starts against the Blues dating to last year's playoff series. With Minnesota 7-1 off a win and St. Louis 4-9 with three or more days off, it is the call of the Wild.

Short-Handed Stars Out Ottawa
During the course of a long season, each NHL team has to overcome adversity to achieve success. Dallas (39-27 SU) is smack dab in the middle of such a situation right now. With Jordie Benn, Patrick Sharp and Patrick Eaves already sidelined, John Klingberg was hurt Friday and will not play in Ottawa (31-35 SU). This leaves the Stars below average defense even thinner on a club which has lost seven of nine.

The Senators are +130 home underdogs and are in a three-way tie for 10th place, five points behind Pittsburgh for last wild card in the East. After winning four in a row, Ottawa has been on the short end of the scoreboard in three of five, but did muster a win at Toronto yesterday.

Though Dallas is playing with less than full arsenal, they have beaten the Senators seven of eight times and Ottawa is pathetic 2-10 when playing with no rest.

Chicago's Home Dominance over Detroit Matters
The Blackhawks (40-26 SU) face Detroit (32-32 SU) for a second time in five days and are after similar result, this time on home ice. Chicago won 5-2 in the Motor City on Wednesday and had no answer the top point producer Patrick Kane and his linemate Artemi Panarin, as the two accounted for four points.

The Hawks lost the next night in Boston, but are 23-8-2 at the United Center and have taken the Red Wings to task in their own building with a 7-1-1 record. Chicago opened as a -170 home favorite and while Detroit has the advantage of playing with immediate revenge, they still have to overcome other demons.

The Wings have not been very successful against the Western Conference and they are 2-9 off a pair of nonconference clashes. Besides Chicago showing they know what it takes to handle Detroit, they are a perfect 10-0 at home after consecutive nonconference games.
