There are just four games on the ice this Tuesday night as we move closer to the New Year. We’ve got free picks of every game with the Vancouver-San Jose game singled off in its own article.

Montreal Canadiens vs. Florida Panthers
NHL
Odds: Canadiens -120
The Montreal Canadiens are in a back-to-back situation tonight, which means we’ll likely see Dustin Tokarski between the pipes. Carey Price has been red hot but he’s just 0-3-0 with a 3.67 GAA in the second night of back-to-backs this season. If we do see Price, keep in mind that he’s 5-1-1 with a 0.99 GAA against the Panthers in his last seven starts.

Regardless, the Habs are the play here as Florida Panthers netminder Roberto Luongo just doesn’t fare so well against Montreal. He’s lost six of seven against them while posting a 3.30 GAA. Take the Habs with your NHL picks here. They’ve won six of seven and should be able to make that seven of eight on Tuesday.

St. Louis Blues vs. Nashville Predators
NHL
Odds: Predators -140
The Preds are in a tough spot here as they’re in a back-to-back situation after blowing a winnable game last night. They were in Chicago, facing the Central Division-leading Blackhawks, yet blew a three-goal lead only to lose in a shootout. They’re likely going to be stinging after that loss. The bigger concern might be that they’re playing on consecutive nights and star goaltender Pekka Rinne might not be. He hasn’t played a back-to-back situation since last March.

With Rinne out, over is worth a look here. Nashville’s offense has been cooking as they’ve averaged 4.4 goals per game and 36.4 shots in their last five outings. The Blues should get No. 1 goaltender Brian Elliott back between the pipes but you never know how a player will respond after coming back from an injury. There could be some rust.

The Preds are 9-1 at home in games where the total is 5 or less, but in this spot, I prefer to take betting over the NHL odds total because they might be without Rinne and in a bit of a letdown spot after last night.

Los Angeles Kings vs. Edmonton Oilers
NHL
Odds: Kings -190
The coaching change has done virtually nothing for the Edmonton Oilers as they’ve now dropped nine straight games. They’ve also lost seven straight times to the Kings, so their prospects aren’t looking so hot.

The Oilers are getting blasted on a nightly basis as they’re not even close. They’ve been outscored 33-16 during their nine-game losing streak. Trade rumors are blowing in the air and the entire roster is untouchable. The problem is that when players know they’re about to be traded, they tend to play with less passion for their current club.

The Oilers have lost seven straight to Los Angeles while being outscored 24-6. There’s little reason to think anything changes on Tuesday. The juice is too high here though, so take the Kings on the puck line.
