The Colts & Texans are both limping into week 5 burdened with long injury reports. How will each team deal with a very short week & what NFL picks do we like Thursday Night?

Momentum
The Colts beat the Jacksonville Jaguars, and that’s about it. They were lucky to escape with a narrow victory over one of the weaker teams in the league at home. Jacksonville missed a late field goal which would have won the game, and the Colts were able to snatch away the win not too long afterward. Andrew Luck’s health behind a bad offensive line is a point of concern. He’s probably going to play, but one has to wonder how good he’ll be if he does play.

The Texans embarrassed themselves with a lopsided loss at Atlanta last Sunday. This team is aimless, with no reliable quarterback and no sense of direction. It’s a step back for a franchise which overachieved last season and nearly made the playoffs.

Notable Injuries
The Colts have defensive end Arthur Jones listed on injured reserve. Running back Dan Herron and running back Vick Ballard are also on the injured reserve list. Cornerback D’Joun Smith is out indefinitely with a knee injury. Cornerback Jalil Brown is listed as questionable for this game with a groin injury. Cornerback Vontae Davis is probable with a foot injury. Linebacker Jerrell Freeman is questionable for this game with a groin injury. Linebacker Bjoern Werner is questionable with a hamstring injury. Running back Frank Gore is probable with a foot injury. Defensive end Henry Anderson is questionable with a foot injury. Defensive end Kendall Langford is questionable with a back injury. Cornerback Greg Toler is probable with a back injury. Tight end Dwayne Allen is probable with an ankle injury. Quarterback Andrew Luck is questionable with a shoulder injury. Running back Tyler Varga is questionable with a concussion.

For the Texans, the main injury news is that running back Arian Foster is probable with a groin injury. Linebacker Akeem Dent is questionable with a hamstring injury. Linebacker Brian Cushing is probable with a foot injury. Cornerback Johnathan Joseph is probable with a hip injury. Linebacker Carlos Thompson is on injured reserve. So is linebacker Mike Mohamed. So is quarterback Tom Savage. Tackle Jeff Adams is out for the season with a knee injury. Safety Lonnie Ballentine is questionable with a knee injury. Running back Chris Polk is probable with a knee injury. Linebacker Whitney Mercilus is questionable with a thigh injury. Safety Quintin Demps is questionable with a hamstring injury. Tackle Duane Brown is probable with a hand injury. Safety Eddie Pleasant is probable with a thigh injury. Linebacker Jadeveon Clowney is probable with a knee injury. Wide receiver Cecil Shorts is questionable with a shoulder injury. Wide receiver Nate Washington is questionable with a hamstring injury. Running back Jonathan Grimes is questionable with a knee injury. Tight end Ryan Griffin is out two to three weeks with a knee injury.

Handicapping The Game
The fact that Andrew Luck is in such questionable health would suggest that the Colts are going to continue to struggle. The Texans aren’t good, but they’re more embarrassed than they are hurt, and they should be able to play with enough fire on defense to make things miserable for Luck.
