Week two preseason NFL betting matchups are trading on the NFL Odds board. Get in on the action as we preview each and every game and serve up choice ATS NFL picks.

NFL Week 1 Recap
Bookmakers were winners in week 1 after all the games were in the books. Ten of the sixteen matchups saw the house win. While the six that the public got right, two were near 50-50 splits in consensus betting polls so one could argue the books broke even.

Nikki’s Game-by-Game Record, Week 1 NFL Preseason
SU: 9-7
ATS: 8-6*
Total: 9-5 *
*Omitted: Browns vs. Packers and Bills vs. Colts due to absence of NFL Lines and Odds available at the time of writing

So while the iron is still hot, we strike with our early game-by-game predictions for week two’s round of the preseason. Check out where we line up our NFL picks against the spread.

Eagles vs. Steelers
As it is, most sportsbooks are hanging this game on a 3.5-point spread with the Steelers to the good. The public is heavy on the Eagles at the moment according to consensus betting polls, a move that might be down to that extra half-point dangling on the line. Given the Steelers are without backup Gradowski for week 2 (reported hamstring injury) it does look like 3.5 points is a touch high on the Steelers. Then again, the Eagles were rather fortunate in the win over the Bucs last week. They struggled to move the ball and had it not been for errors by the Bucs the game might have looked different. Can we really buy what the Eagles are selling after just one preseason game? Keep in mind, they’ve lost backup Chase Wentz to all intents and purposes for the preseason, which means an unheralded McLeod Bethel-Thompson gets to take a few snaps. The kid has been around for six seasons and hasn’t stuck with any team. He might capitalise on this opportunity, but that’s a lot of ifs.

Bengals vs. Lions
This is another game where the public looks heavy on one side of the coin largely down to the outcomes of week 1. The Lions upset the Steelers at Heinz Arena putting up 30-points in a 30-17 win. That rather convincing score line came at the expense of the reserves, which should put NFL bettors on the fence here. The Bengals, meanwhile, came up only just short in a 17-16 loss to the Vikings but there were plenty of positives. In fact, the Bengals are the better team on both sides of the ball and they have the better backup in AJ McCarron. If there’s one thing that underlines this notion it’s the reverse line movements in the market: the NFL line is shortening, which can be an indication of sharp money on the Bengals. Take the points with Cincy while you can. You can still grab the 2.5-point line with several sportsbooks.

Free NFL Picks: Bengals +2.5 (-110)

Bears vs. Patriots
The Bears were shutout by the Denver Broncos in week 1 NFL betting, marking the worst result in the first lap of NFL betting. How the Bears bounce back will be interesting, but we’re not holding out much hope for them with a second straight tough customer in the preseason. The Patriots are preparing for life without Tom Brady in the first quarter of the season. This is going to be a must-win game for the Patriots. Most books are hanging this game on 4-points, but at Pinnacle you can find 3.5-points with the Patriots to the good.

Free NFL Picks: Patriots -3.5 (-106) at Pinnacle

Falcons vs. Browns
For some reason, the public is betting the Browns in this game. Wonders never cease to amaze at the exchange. For a side that is tipped to be godawful what is the charm? Sure, they kept it close in week 1 with the Packers and looked to be unfortunate in the loss – two safeties for the Packers sealed the win and cover. That said, this is an entirely different ball game. RGII is also notoriously mercurial and unpredictable. How comfortable can anyone be laying 2.5-points with the Browns? Take the Falcons plus the points.

Free NFL Picks: Falcons +2.5 (-106) at Pinnacle

Raiders vs. Packers
Although the consensus betting polls reveal a heavy swing of early bets coming down the wire towards the Packers, there are those that like what the Raiders are selling. They put forward a convincing case in the 31-10 win in Arizona last weekend. It’s enough to consider hedging bets here with perhaps a bet on Green Bay to win SU but the Raiders to cover.

Free NFL Picks: Raiders +3 -110 at Heritage

Vikings vs. Seahawks
In the most thrilling showdown of week 1, the Seahawks stormed back to edge the Chiefs 17-16 behind a Hail Mary pass with zero seconds on the clock and, then, a nail-biting two-point conversion. Not that the Vikings needed any reminders about just how scary good the Seahawks can be, or, for that matter, lucky. The botched kick in the wildcard game is hard to forget. Consensus betting shows a distinct lean towards the Vikings, largely down to their winning performance in Cincy in which the defense really stood to attention. The Seahawks though are playing at CenturyLink Field and Russel Wilson is likely to get some significant snaps in. As it is, the NFL line is hanging on a field goal advantage for the Seahawks or as high as 3.5-points at most sports betting platforms. However, some books are already dropping the line to a PK – an indication of large bets and sharp money coming down the wire and, in all likelihood, on both sides of the coin. There are many NFL bettors that like what these two sides are selling, as do we. But, push comes to shove, we’re chancing the Seahawks at home and biting the 3.5-point spread.

Free NFL Picks: Seahawks -3.5 (+100) at Pinnacle

Jets vs. Redskins
The Redskins might be the NFC East champions, but there are those that feel strongly about the manner in which they won the title – capitalising on a weak division in 2015. Week 1 of the preseason left much to be desired as well with a rather sloppy performance in Atlanta. As such, 3.5-points seems just too many points to lay with the Redskins.

Free NFL Picks: Jets +3.5 (-110) at TheGreek

Dolphins vs. Cowboys
The Dolphins just edge the Cowboys in consensus betting polls for spread betting markets, largely down to their 27-10 win over the Giants. It’s easy to get emotional and excited about such a debut for the Dolphins under their new coach Adam Gase. Not to mention, there’s a feeling that bookies might be intentionally playing on that sentiment by dangling attractive juice for the Dolphins to cover +3 (+110). That’s a tempting bet indeed. Nevertheless, there is a danger to basing your NFL bets on one performance. Consider the Cowboys lost the nationally televised opener in Los Angeles last week 28-24, so they’ll have the incentive to win at home. That and it’s the second road game for the Dolphins and consistency has been an issue with them. Cowboys, who are trading at -3 (-130) with many sportsbooks look rather pricey as well – again the hefty juice could be taken as intentionally off-putting. If you’re buying what they are selling though it might be the smart NFL pick. Those that don’t mind risking the extra half point available BetOnline and Heritage might fancy the NFL odds there.

Cardinals vs. Chargers
The majority of early bets coming down the wire are going towards the Cardinals in spread betting markets, for good reason. On balance, the Cardinals are the better side and nobody is really making much of their opening loss to the Raiders. There’s a lot to be said about the Chargers losing to Tennessee though. Oh, then there is the fact that Cards plus the points are just too good of an NFL bet to ignore.

Free NFL Picks: Cardinals +1.5 -110 at JustBet

Panthers vs. Titans
On principle, the NFL betting market on this game makes absolutely no sense. How can Cam Newton and the Panthers be with a disadvantage against Tennessee Titans? When last week, they opened as the significant road favourites to Baltimore Ravens, who are a much better team than the Titans, no ifs or buts about it. Panthers plus the points are the only way to go. Enough said.

Free NFL Picks: Panthers +1 -110 at Bet365

Giants vs. Bills
If week 1 were to be taken at face value G-men could potentially be set to disappoint for another season. In fact, they were so alarming few bettors are betting this game at early doors. The Bills, meanwhile, also coming off a loss can at least find comfort in having been in the game for the most part. It was a narrow defeat to the Colts at home last week. To be fair, we’d recommend giving this game a skip and only for the purpose of this game-by-game preview – for the sake of continuity – we’re serving up a choice NFL pick. With Eli Manning getting some playing time, we’re shading the Giants on our NFL picks but feeling no joy.

Ravens vs. Colts
Andrew Luck was rested last week in the 17-16 win over the Bills. He’s sure to get some playing time in this second preseason contest and NFL bettors finally will get to see a glimpse of the 72-million football bauble. Overpriced, maybe? Certainly, a defeat to the Ravens in week 2 will raise the subject. In any event, the Ravens are coming off a winning performance against the Panthers in week 1 and they’ll be looking to continue that momentum.

Free NFL Picks: Ravens +2.5 +110 at Heritage

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010756, "sportsbooksIds":[169,43,19,238,93], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Bucs vs. Jaguars
Although it was a performance that left a lot to be desired by Tampa Bay in week 1, NFL bettors are pounding the Bucs plus the 3-points at the sports betting exchange. That could be largely down to the attractive NFL odds that are on offer for the Bucs to cover with several sportsbooks. Granted there is quite an optimism about this side but it’s also a second road game in as many weeks. The Jags lost to the Jets but this is their preseason home opener. By all accounts, Bortles looked sharp for the limited play he saw last week.

Free NFL Picks: Jaguars -3 -116 at Pinnacle

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010757, "sportsbooksIds":[238,43,19,169,192], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Saints vs. Texans
Saints are coming off a loss to the Patriots at Foxboro while the Texans are coming off a win over the Niners at Levi stadium. It’s hard to judge these two contrasting outcomes because in the former we have a stellar opponent and in the latter, we have a subpar opponent in rebuild. The upshot of which, the Saints were beaten by a better team while the Texans beat a lesser team. It’s a crapshoot as a result in week 2. That said, the Texans are at home and will be debuting their prized new quarterback Brock Osweiler. The public is heavy on the Saints but we’re of a mind to fade the public and shade the Texans as the home chalk.

Free NFL Picks: Texans -3 -106 at Pinnacle

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010751, "sportsbooksIds":[238,169,43,19,93], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

49ers vs. Broncos
The Broncos crushed the Bears ruthlessly last week. They go into week 2 to face another weak opponent, in which it would be shocking if we didn’t see more of the same. The NFL line opened at -3.5 to the Broncos but already there is significant movement across the board. Grab the Broncos before they get the bet up too high. Otherwise, if you miss these lower-end lines wait until late doors and, perhaps, you’ll grab the value with the Niners. Not unlike the Cowboys vs. Rams game that opened at -3 but was bet up to -6 for the Rams. Those that got in early on the Rams at -3 won their bets while those that got in late and took the Cowboys at +6 covered. Timing with your NFL picks can be everything.

Free NFL Picks: Broncos -4 -115 at Bookmaker

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010753, "sportsbooksIds":[93,238,169,43,19], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Chiefs vs. Rams
After a winning opening account in Los Angeles, it’s no surprise that the NFL betting public is riding the Rams to make it two in a row. One win isn’t the be all and end all of the things. It’s certainly not enough to convince us that the Rams deserve to be consistently favoured in NFL betting markets, especially against a Chiefs side that finished the year very strong last season. Not to mention, recently signed Rams’ cast-off Nick Foles. Chiefs plus the points are too good to ignore.

Free NFL Picks: Chiefs +3 -110 at WilliamHill
