Living alongside a Brady-inspired Patriots isn’t easy but the Miami Dolphins have high hopes for the playoffs, possibly even the AFC East title this season. How will the Dolphins cope with their NFL schedule? Here are some early game-by-game projections for the Dolphins with way too early NFL picks.

Could the Dolphins Give Patriots a Run for Their Money?
Patriots have the AFC East title cornered on -300 odds, and for good reason having practically owned the title over the past decade. The Dolphins, matched at +450 odds, are considered their strongest rivals, but given the huge gap between the pair on the money line, it’s clear the Dolphins have a long way to go towards closing that gap. Exacerbating this divide is a brutal start to their schedule that could spell disaster to their hopes.

Fittingly, the Dolphins open their season against the New England Patriots before taking on divisional rivals Buffalo Bills. Immediately afterwards they take on the constantly improving Kansas City Chiefs before flitting over to London to take on the Oakland Raiders. A week 5 bye isn’t so opportune, ushering with it a 12-game stretch towards the finish line, an arduous run capped off with three divisional clashes in the last five weeks.

Game-by-Game Predictions

Week 1 vs. New England
An opening game against divisional juggernauts could be either a good or bad turn of events for the Dolphins. The notion they could get a surprise win at home at the expense of the AFC East standard is underscored by it being the first game of the season. However, the Dolphins rarely beat the Patriots home or away, so big is the gap. Plus, they have a lot of new faces and new schemes to adjust to, which probably will need more than the preseason and opening week to iron out.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 2 @ Buffalo
The Bills swept the series last term winning 23-21 in Miami and 19-0 in Buffalo, on a cold wintery December day. This time around, the weather in Buffalo won’t be such a factor, giving the Dolphins a chance to take the win. What’s more, the vindication of a road win would be nice. But the Bills loom dangerous this season, highly improved and fortified they are one of several sleeper NFL picks to do some damage. The Dolphins won’t have an easy day of it in Buffalo.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 3 vs. Kansas City
The Chiefs bring explosive offense and solid defending to Miami, two factors that should give them an edge over the Dolphins who are most likely to be still discovering their new identity. Expect the Chiefs to ride roughshod over the Dolphins.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 4 @ Oakland
London bound we are for this game, a fact that levels the playing field as both teams will be dealing with jetlag and acclimatising to the time difference and unfamiliar grounds and atmosphere. The Raiders might be better this season, but the Dolphins should win this game regardless.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 5 Bye

Week 6 vs. Green Bay
After facing off against two divisional rivals in a row to start the season, two 2013-playoff teams in the first three weeks, followed by a trip to London, and then a bye week, the Dolphins take on the Packers. Can we all agree that’s a brutal first six weeks to the season? The Dolphins will be lucky to be competitive, never mind win. Don’t be surprised if Ryan Tannehill throws cupcakes to Aaron Rodgers bullets down the field.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 7 @ Chicago
Many NFL bettors have high hopes for the Chicago Bears this season, but we’re of the opinion they might be slightly overstated. This should be a good matchup for the Dolphins to exploit on both sides of the ball. Bears defense was atrocious last season and Jay Cutler is prone to blunders. The Dolphins could get a surprise road win here.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 8 @ Jacksonville
To all intents and purposes, this is a game most Miami fans believe the Dolphins should win. Jaguars are improved but not so much, surely.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 9 vs. San Diego
Phillip Rivers and the Chargers bring their solid offense and running game  to Miami in Week 9, keen to take the road win. Last season, largely down to the Dolphins late meltdown, the Chargers traipsed into the playoffs. This season the Chargers are hoping to gain a spot by merit rather than leaving fate in the hands of other teams.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 10 @ Detroit
The Detroit Lions boast an impressive offense that could prove too much for the Dolphins to handle, particularly on the road.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 11 vs. Buffalo
Divisional rivals Buffalo Bills swept the series last season. On Miami’s turf, the Dolphins have the edge. This will be about redemption, evening the score and atoning for missed opportunities last season.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 12 @ Denver
Peyton Manning and the Broncos in Denver, pretty self-explanatory wouldn’t you say? Actually, this one could be quite unpleasant for the Dolphins.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 13 @ New York Jets
This is going to be primetime action for the Jets and Dolphins. Last season, the pair split the series with each side winning on the road. Miami won 23-3 in New York, a game that saw Geno Smith benched. The Jets avenged that loss on the last day of the season by beating the Dolphins 20-7, adding insult to injury as the Dolphins missed the postseason. This is a heated rivalry that could go either way.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 14 vs. Baltimore
The Ravens haven’t travelled well in recent seasons, that’s about the only hope the Dolphins can hold on to in this clash. Early indications are that Kubiak’s offense is firing at all cylinders, setting them up to be a potent force in the league this season. If that holds true, Ryan Tannehill couldn’t possibly hold his own in a shootout battle with Joe Flacco.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 15 @ New England
A cold December day in New England awaits the Dolphins late in the season. Tom Brady hardly ever loses a home game and Miami Dolphins hardly ever beat the Patriots.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 16 vs. Minnesota
It’s hard to get a read on the Vikings, lots of lovely individual pieces but together they just don’t make sense. All anybody talks about when considering the Vikings is Adrian Peterson, so synonymous they are. But teams have figured out ways to stop him, if not at least have managed to prevent the Vikings from winning even when he’s enjoying freaky form.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 17 vs. New Jork Jets
The Jets and Dolphins collide on the last day of the season for a second year in a row. Their last meeting went the way of the Jets 20-7 in Miami. Many NFL bettors are understating Jets’ offensive weapons and solid front seven possibly to their detriment. The Dolphins should win but the Jets could surprise again.
NFL Pick: Loss

NFL Betting Verdict
By our early projections, grand suppositions and NFL picks for the Dolphins’ schedule, it’s obvious we aren’t considering the Dolphins to be a playoff calibre team. Headed towards a 5-11 season by our estimation, we’re not far off from market experts that chalk the line at 7.5 regular season wins with the Under trading favourably at -160 at 5Dimes
