It’s bad enough to fall into the same division as two of the top three favourites to win outright in Super Bowl XLIX betting markets: Seahawks and Niners, the former of which are the defending champions to boot. To have a murderous schedule on the new season too, well it’s is just adding insult to injury. What can NFL bettors therefore expect from the Cardinals this season in win totals betting?

Can Cardinals repeat 10 wins on the season?
Arizona Cardinals finished the regular season with a 10-6 record, which included a 6-2 home mark and a 4-4 mark. Frustratingly, it wasn’t enough to get them into the playoffs. In any other division, that mark might have sufficed – for instance, Philadelphia won NFC East on the back of the same record.  In the NFC West which had Seattle going 13-3 on the season and San Francisco tally a 12-4 mark it wasn’t enough. Neither was beating the Seattle Seahawks at home, effectively ending their home-winning streak that went back to December 24, 2011 to San Francisco, in the dying weeks of the season any consolation.  Hard done by maybe, but such is their lot in a highly competitive NFC West.

Going into the new season, Cardinals must match their 2013 record, if not surpass it. How they’re going to do it given what appears to be a murderous schedule, tougher than last seasons, in some respects, has many fans nervously anxious.

Week 1 vs. San Diego
Although the Chargers were up and down last season, they still managed to finish 9-7 (5-3 at home, 4-4 away) and advance into the playoffs. Most impressively, the Chargers beat the Broncos in Denver, 27-20 in December, sending seismic shockwaves through NFL betting markets. The Cardinals therefore can’t take anything for granted. This isn’t a side to underestimate at all. Cardinals should win, but Chargers could surprise.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 2 @ New York
Cardinals should give the Giants a run for their money in the Big Apple. Giants have made wholesale changes during the offseason; improvements to offense, secondary and backfield are set to make them a much better side than they were last season in the broader spectrum of the season. But as this clash comes early in the new season, the Giants may not have had enough playing time to click properly, which means the Cardinals could potentially take the road win. It’s easier said than done however.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 3 vs. San Francisco
San Francisco swept the series last season, winning 32-20 at San Francisco and 23-20 in Arizona The Cardinals are eager to set the record straight, at least win one of the two meetings in 2014. Coming up against the Niners after a cross-country road trip to the Giants isn’t ideal, which makes us think the Cardinals will be at the slight disadvantage despite playing at home.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 4 Bye

Week 5 @ Denver
Can the Cardinals beat the Broncos on the road? Hard to imagine it considering the offseason during which the Broncos beefed up in every required aspect. High-octane offense together with a better wide receiving corps, Peyton Manning and Company will be hard to beat.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 6 vs. Washington
Despite boasting RGIII and a decent group of talent, the Redskins are a long way from becoming a contender, so say the NFL experts. The Cardinals should clinch the straightforward victory at home.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 7 @ Oakland
The Cardinals are better on both sides of the ball. The Raiders have made negligible changes during the offseason, none of which set them up to high expectations. Cardinals could have an easy road win.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 8 vs. Philadelphia
The Eagles enjoyed a turnaround season in 2013, largely down to the offensive play of Nick Foles. Indeed, Foles threw three touchdowns to beat the Cardinals 24-21 in Arizona. If Foles is anywhere as good as he was last season, the Cardinals will have their hands full.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 9 @ Dallas
Of all the so-called “elite” teams, the Cowboys seem to have taken a step backwards. Questions surround them in every aspect – from offense to secondary and backfield, there seem to be glaring issues. The Cardinals can exploit all these to clinch a road win.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 10 vs. St. Louis
The Rams know how to make an encounter uncomfortable. What’s more, the Rams have made some positive moves across the board in the offseason that set them up for a much more competitive game with the Cardinals than it was last season when they succumbed 30-10 in Arizona. Keep in mind the Rams beat the Cardinals to open the season 27-24 in St. Louis. Expect a close affair. The Cardinals have home advantage and should squeak the victory, but don’t be surprised if the Rams turn the tables.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 11 vs. Detroit
Matthew Stafford and the Lions can be up and down from game-to-game, hence their 7-9 record on the season, which included a 4-4 record at home and a 3-5 record on the road. On paper, the Cardinals are the better side.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 12 @ Seattle
The Cardinals were the first side to defeat Russell Wilson and Company at home since December 11. That should send them into this first divisional meeting on the season with confidence, but also with added pressure as NFL betting fans will be expecting them to pull it off again. Hard to imagine they would however. Besides, the defeat is added motivation for Seattle to set the record straight.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 13 @ Atlanta
The Falcons were hugely disappointing last season with a 4-12 mark, one of their worst outputs in recent memory. NFL fans expect the Falcons to rise out of the ashes this season, but how high remains to be seen. Last season, the pair collided in the desert where the Falcons were trounced 27-13. This time they are playing on Atlanta’s turf, which could swing things in their favour. Still, we feel the Cardinals are just a cut above.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 14 vs. Kansas City
The Chiefs rose out of the ashes last season to put forward an impressive run through the regular season and towards a playoff berth. Most impressively, the Chiefs played better on the road than at home – they went 5-3 at home and 6-2 on the road. These two sides matchup well, cutting the outcome both ways.
NFL Pick: Loss

Week 15 @ St. Louis
Last season, the Cardinals opened to a defeat to the Rams on the road. It was the first game of the new season, where rust, nerves, excitement all probably played a factor. The reverse went wholeheartedly the way of the Cardinals, 30-10 in week 14, which we feel is a better representation of the Xs and Os between these two sides. Cardinals take the road win here.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 16 vs. Seattle
Last season, the Hawks swooped into town to take the 34-22 win. Clearly, the Cardinals learned from that experience as they went back to Seattle to hand the Hawks their first home defeat. Thus, one has to consider the Cardinals could beat Seattle at home. Certainly, if they can do it on the road, they can do it on their own stomping ground.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 17 @ San Francisco
Cardinals look good on both sides of the ball. San Francisco play well at home. Something is going to have to give here. Forced to make a decision, we’re giving it to the hosts.
NFL Pick: Loss

NFL Betting Verdict
It’s a brutal schedule the Cardinals have on the 2014-2015 season. As such, our grandiose predictions have the Cardinals finishing the regular season with a 9-7 record, only slightly lower than their 10-6 mark on 2013, which is a testament to their undeniable quality. In any event,  the line is chalked at 7.5 regular season wins or thereabouts, so our recommended NFL pick is to go Over at -140.
