After an incredibly disappointing season, New York Giants went back to the drawing board. A busy offseason ensued which has brought a whole slew of changes, all intended to improve the Giants on both sides of the ball.

Bookies however chalk expectations low at 7.5 regular season wins. Here’s a game-by-game analysis in order to determine whether the Over or Under is the best NFL pick.

Giants to go Over 7.5
New York Giants went 7-9 last season to finish second in the NFC East behind the Philadelphia Eagles and miss the playoffs. The Giants finished behind a 9-7 mark in the two previous seasons, but in 2011 it was enough to not only win a tight NFC East race but also propel them all the way to winning the Super Bowl.

This season, sportsbooks set expectations modestly low at 7.5 regular season wins. A mark that isn’t in tune with all  the reinforcements made to the offensive line, secondary and backfield, improvements that are set to enhance an already solid core group spearheaded by Eli Manning. The Giants should have no trouble crossing that mark, especially given the favourable schedule, not to mention challenge the Philadelphia Eagles for the NFC East title.

Week 1 @ Detroit Lions
The Lions could go either way this season: up or down. All depends on whether they’ve made enough improvements on defense. Too many close defeats last season saw them finish 7-9. The much-improved Giants have a shot at a road win to open the season on if Lions defense proves suspect still and, arguably, if all their own changes come together immediately.
NFL Picks: Win

Week 2 vs. Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals descend on New York Giants hoping to make good on their playoff intentions with a road win in New York. The Giants will have all to do to stop a very good-looking offense. This should be a close affair, with the win going either way. However, Giants have home advantage and should capitalise.
NFL Picks: Win

Week 3 vs. Houston Texans
The Texans are coming off a disappointing season. Pundits expect much better production from them in the upcoming lap around the NFL league, but a road win in the Big Apple is a bit of a stretch. Giants to win comfortably.
NFL Picks: Win

Week 4 @ Washington Redskins
Despite all their struggles last season, the Giants still managed to beat the Redskins twice to sweep the series. Both sides have undergone improvements. Importantly, RGIII is supposed to be healthy, which could make for a more competitive clash this time around. If Washington are going to win one of the games in the two-part series with the Giants, the home stand is their most likely. It’s a tossup, but we’re going for Giants suffering a narrow road loss.
NFL Picks: Loss

Week 5 vs. Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons are flush off a 4-12 season that saw them shockingly plummet into the NFC South cellar after a 13-3 season in 2012 which had set high expectations for 2013. They were abysmal both at home (3-5) and on the road (1-7) Going into this season, NFL bettors expect an improved Falcons deposit, but not so that they would challenge for top spot in the NFC South or the like. Improved Giants on both sides of the ball should run roughshod with a Falcons side just barely finding its wings.
NFL Pick: Win

Week 6 @ Philadelphia Eagles
Last season, these two sides split the series with both sides winning on the road.  The Eagles will face a made over Giants, which sets up a rather interesting affair. Given the divisional implications, however, Eagles will be eager to win the home clash before trying to wreck havoc in the Big Apple. Giants can’t avoid defeat.
NFL Picks: Loss

Week 7 @ Dallas Cowboys
These two sides are well matched in many respects. Giants revamped defense will be tested by Tony Romo in Dallas. Offensively, the Giants could run riot with a so-so Dallas defense. It could go either way, but we’re taking a chance on the Giants winning on the road.
NFL Picks: Win

Wee 8 - Bye

Week 9 vs. Indianapolis Colts
The Colts will be a tough ask even at home. Eli Manning though has tons of experience and if he can prove the difference maker, he could show up Andrew Luck and Company.
NFL Picks: Win

Week 10 @ Seattle Seahawks
Taking a crack at the defending Super Bowl champions on the road isn’t ideal, not with the 12th man hanging around. What’s more, the formidable home record Seattle boasts over the past few seasons. Giants will have all to do to keep this game close, never mind going for the win.
NFL Picks: Loss

Week 11 vs. San Francisco 49ers
Following a heavy meeting with the Seahawks, the Giants are slated to take on a tough Niners side in the Big Apple. This could go either way, but Kaepernick could prove the X-factor and the Niners take the road win.
NFL Picks: Loss

Week 12 vs. Dallas Cowboys
The home stay against Dallas Stars should go the way of the Giants with the revamped defense doing its part against Tony Romo and Eli Manning dealing effectively with a so-so Stars defense.
NFL Picks: Win

Week 13 @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Eli Manning and Company should descend on Jacksonville Jaguars full of optimism and confidence. Jaguars were one of the boast beatable sides last season. They might not be as bad this term, nonetheless the Giants should get a road win here over a side that is inferior on both sides of the ball.
NFL Picks: Win

Week 14 @ Tennessee Titans
A lot about the Titans is up in the air. What’s more, there’s no guarantee Jake Locker will remain healthy up to this point of the season. If past few seasons were any indication, he may well be sidelined or benched. Eli Manning and Company could have a field day on the road.
NFL Picks: Win

Week 15 vs. Washington Redskins
Beating the Washington Redskins at home is going to be a must-win game for the Giants, especially if the divisional title hangs in the balance or a wild card is up for grabs. Anything can happen if RGIII is healthy at this point of the season, but the much-improved Giants defense should rise to the occasion.
NFL Picks: Win

Week 16 @ St. Louis Rams
The Rams can’t be underestimated. They are better than most are giving them credit for and they’ll prove tough to beat on the road. Eli Manning will be wary of a potent pass rush that ranked third in the league, highlighted by 50+ sacks.
NFL Picks: Loss

Week 17 vs. Philadelphia Eagles
This is going to be a tough game all around, particularly if both sides are on good form and bidding for top spot in the NFC East. Forced to make a decision, Giants to win at home is a sound option.
NFL Picks: Win

NFL Betting Verdict
According to our overzealous analysis, we have the Giants finishing a healthy 11-5 on the season, possibly 9-7 (yet again) at worst. Obviously, this isn’t the gospel but if you agree with us, take the Over 7.5 at -160 in the NFL Odds
