When playing totals in the NFL we'll usually eschew UNDERS, because while a game always has a chance to go OVER, once a game is OVER it can never go UNDER again. Here's what we came up with for some Week 9 totals NFL picks.

Raiders Riding High Into Heinz
Oakland, coming off a pair of nice wins in which they totaled 71 points against the Chargers and Jets, visit the Steelers, who just got their starting quarterback back.

The Raiders are 5-2 on the NFL odds totals this season, first because their defense gave up a bunch of points, but lately because their offense has been clicking with quarterback Derek Carr, who's thrown seven touchdown passes without a pick the last two weeks. On the whole Oakland ranks ninth in the league in total offense, but 26th in total defense; consequently, Raiders games have averaged 50 total points.

Pittsburgh, meanwhile, is 7-1 on the UNDERS, but the Steelers played some low-scoring games without Big Ben. Roethlisberger looked a little rusty last week in his first action since Week 3, but the extra week of practice should help. Also, after losing RB Le'Veon Bell, Pittsburgh might have to rely even more on its passing game, and that would seem good news for the OVER.

NFL Pick: Raiders-Steelers OVER 48 at YouWager

San Diego Seems Nice
The 2-6 Chargers, who seem to play from behind a lot, host the 2-5 Bears out in San Diego Monday night.

The Bolts lead the league in total offense, as QB Philip Rivers puts up ridiculous numbers. However, most of those numbers come while playing catch-up, because the San Diego defense ranks 20th overall and 27th against the run, giving up 28 points per game. San Diego gave up 37 through the first three quarters in a loss to Oakland two weeks ago, and 29 to Baltimore last week.

Meanwhile, Jay Cutler is healthy for Chicago, and while the Bears are still struggling a bit under the new coaching regime, they seem perfectly capable of putting up 21-24 points, even in a loss.

And San Diego seems a nice place for offenses to play; Chargers home games are 3-1 on the OVERS this season, averaging 57 total points per.

NFL Picks: Chicago/San Diego OVER 49 at Pinnacle

Along With…
New Orleans, clicking again offensively, averaging 37 points over its last three games, goes against Tennessee, which gets its starting quarterback back. And even if Marcus Mariota struggles, a couple of picks might set the Saints up with some short fields. Take the OVER 48 for this dome game at Pinnacle.

New England threw the ball 54 times a couple of weeks ago against the Jets, 38 times last week in an easy win over Miami, at times just abandoning the running game. But yeah, it seems to work.

Washington, meanwhile, trailed Tampa a couple weeks ago 24-0 before rallying for a win, and might find itself in a similar position this week. And while the Patriots aren't quite the Bucs, the 'Skins should be good for a couple of “oh, by the way” scores. Go OVER on New England 51.5 at Bookmaker.

Finally, Giants games are averaging 53 total points, Tampa games 52. Plus, the Bucs are moving the ball on the ground, while New York is having trouble stopping the run. And if Tampa takes a lead of any size, Eli Manning is very capable of rallying his offensive troops.

NFL Picks: Take the OVER on New York 49.5 at 5Dimes
