We preview the complete NFL betting serving on offer for week 9. It’s another jam-packed week with 13 games to spot on your NFL picks. So let’s find out where the early value is to be had.

Week9 NFL Odds Preview
Week 9 offers up several key flashpoints (See Table 1) on the NFL odds board. To begin with, we are faced with three divisional rivalries, including the Browns and undefeated Bengals on Thursday Night Football, kicking off the week in fine style. Home favorites dominate the week’s slate as eight matchups open with the hosts as the home chalk. Odds for the Jaguars and Jets are off the board, though. Mainly because of the gaping hole at quarterback in New York. It remains to be seen who the starter is before bookies feel comfortable pricing the game for your betting pleasures.

Of all the matchups, the most intriguing is the clash between the Packers and Panthers. Another has to be the renewal of hostilities between AFC contenders Broncos and Colts [insert dramatic shiver]. In both instances, the hosts are the underdogs in opening NFL betting markets. The other two home dogs of the week are the Niners and Buccaneers.

MUST-SEE Games Of the Week: Packers vs. PanthersBroncos vs. Colts
The Packers are coming off their first loss of the season – a 29-10 loss to the Broncos all while installed as the road chalk across sports betting platforms. That doesn’t seem to have taken the shine off of them as bookies send the Packers into week 9 as the road underdogs yet again. Another similarity is they are set to take on another undefeated team for the second straight week in the Carolina Panthers, who are flush off an overtime win over the  Colts in MNF. Will the Packers deliver as the road favorites this time or will the Panthers defy the NFL odds? It would seem the public is riding the Packers (97% consensus bets according to Vegas Insider), blatantly ignoring the setback they endured at Mile High in week 8.

The Colts continue to freefall in the win column following a third defeat in a row. Auspiciously, almost every season there is an anaemic division in the league where all teams –for a lack of a better phrase –suck. No team in the AFC South is better than they are and, thus, they continue to ride roughshod over the AFC South despite a 3-5 SU record. That said, the Texans are level with a 3-5 SU record but behind on account of head-to-head. Another defeat this week could see the Colts slip from their imperious perch. If the NFL odds were any indication, it would seem that’s exactly what they are destined to do when they take on the Denver Broncos in week 9 as the 3-point home underdogs. The public seems to be in agreement as well with almost 100% of early money coming down the wire going towards the Broncos.

Can the Bengals and Patriots Remain Undefeated?
Both the Bengals and Patriots are 7-0 SU on the season, entering week 9 as the overwhelming favorites in money line markets and double-digit favorites against the spread. Those spreads don’t look to be coming down anytime soon either. On the contrary, they appear to be swelling behind the bulk of early money coming down the wire. Both these games could represent opportunities for sharp bettors later in the week to make NFL picks on  underdogs if the spreads go stratospheric.

Wildcard Race To Spot
Raiders, Jets, Steelers, Bills and Dolphins are amongst the teams in the hunt for wildcard spots in the AFC race. So it’s not without some irony they makeup some of the matchups in week 9: Raiders take on the Steelers collide while the Bills and Dolphins collide in another matchup. Odds are cornered with the hosts in both cases, but there’s plenty of value on both sides of the coin as evinced by the split betting already recorded by sports betting observers.

Over in the NFC, Vikings, Rams, Saints and Redskins are vying for wildcard berths at the very least. The Rams descend on the Vikings for what could be a pivotal clash for their playoff upside.
