We're just about halfway through the 2016-2017 NFL season in week number 8 and we have some very interesting matchups on tap for Sunday. See who we like as our profitable NFL picks as we seek to provide the bettors with major gains with our in-depth analysis.

Philadelphia Eagles vs Dallas CowboysInstant Contenders

Both teams are off to a fast start this season and that's with each team starting a rookie quarterback. The Eagles future lies with the very talented Carson Wentz as was expected while Dak Prescott was a 4th round draft pick for Dallas and has come flying out of the gates since the preseason and hasn't stopped since.

Dallas has a good problem on their hands as they would like to anoint Prescott as the permanent starting quarterback, but Tony Romo will be coming back soon and that could put pressure on Prescott. That said, anytime under duress thus far, Prescott hasn't missed a beat as he's led the young Cowboys to a near perfect season.

NFL Co-Rookies of the Year?

Prescott isn't a quarterback that's going to beat himself. We saw that in the preseason and it's carried over to the regular season. For the season, he has 1486 yards at a near 70% completion percentage to go along with 7 TD's and 1 INT.

It definitely has helped Prescott to have a top-rate running attack with a rookie, Ezekiel Elliott. He too is having a fantastic season and these two players might fight it out for Rookie of the Year honors. Elliott has played like a seasoned pro. For the season, he has 703 yards an 5 rushing TD's. Look for Prescott to key in on players like Cole Beasley (390 TD, 3 TD's), who is having a fantastic season while Elliott and the running game control the tempo of this game.

Dallas' best receiver, Dez Bryant, will return to action this week and that's a major plus as Bryant is one of the best receivers in the league when healthy.

Growing Pains

After 2 consecutive losses, the Eagles have bounced back quite nicely with a 21-10 win over Sam Bradford and the Minnesota Vikings. While Carson Wentz (1324 yards, 8 TD's, 3 INT's) has had an outstanding season, he's started to slow down a bit as of late. In his last 2 games, Wentz has completed just 27 passes for a total of 317 yards with 1 TD and 2 INT's. This is definitely the wrong time to hit a rough patch for Wentz as he faces his biggest test to date. This isn't an overpowering Philadelphia Eagles offense and the Dallas defensive line should have their way with Wentz. Look for the Cowboys to cover the spread quite easily, for your week 8 NFL picks, as this is a favorable matchup for them.

Green Bay Packers vs Atlanta Falcons  Problems For the Pack?

One thing that's been very noticeable about the Packers this season and that is that age is starting to creep in on star quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. He's not the perfect passer that we've seen in the past and although the Packers are coming off of a nice win, it was against the lowly Chicago Bears.

Randall Cobb is expected to miss this game and that will put more pressure on Rodgers as Eddie Lacy and the running game are somewhat suspect. Where the Atlanta Falcons are concerned, they're a much better team than their record indicates and they have the best receiver in the league in Julio Jones (830 yards, 4 TD's)

"Must Win" For the Falcons

Quarterback, Matt Ryan (2348 yards, 13 TD's, 4 INT's) is also having an outstanding season and with the combination of Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman at running back, this Falcons offense has been one of the best in the league. This is a team that plays well at home with very hostile fans and it will be up to Aaron Rodgers to be at his best while also being short-handed. In his last 2 games, Rodgers has thrown 3 interceptions and has forced the football more than often despite outstanding seasonal statistics.

This is a bigger game for the Falcons, who don't want to drop to .500 and this is a great spot with favorable odds for the Dirty Birds. While Rodgers still has Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams to throw the football to, losing Randall Cobb (388 yards, 2 TD's) for this game is still quite a blow. Look for the Falcons to win by a touchdown or more.
